The popular NBA 2K21 has an abundance of customization options for gamers to create an NBA superstar of their own design. In addition to choosing their player’s size, skills, and athleticism, gamers can also apply Badges to their character.

Badges will situationally boost certain abilities while playing. For Shooting Guards, they’ll likely be relied upon to put the ball in the basket more than their teammates and will benefit from boosts to their ability to score from anywhere on the court.

10 Giant Slayer

Giant Slayer is a Finishing Badge that will increase the ability to finish at the rim against taller defenders. This Badge will activate whenever attempting a layup against any defender taller than the player.

Typically, the paint will be defended by Centers, Power Forwards, and Small Forwards, and they’re often taller than the Shooting Guard. Therefore, this Badge will come in handy on almost all of the player’s inside scoring attempts and gamers will have less to fear when attacking imposing rim protectors.

9 Contact Finisher

Contact Finisher is a Finishing Badge that increases the success of contact dunks or layups. This Badge will activate whenever the player draws contact when attacking the rim.

Shooting Guards should obviously be able to shoot, but going up strong in the paint is an invaluable skill for any two guard. Contact Finisher will allow players to score even in the face of tight paint defense and is a vital selection for those who want to posterize defenders with a vicious dunk.

8 Acrobat

Acrobat is a Finishing Badge that will boost the ability to make difficult layups. This Badge will activate whenever the player attempts a hop step, spin, half-spin, reverse, cradle, change shot, or euro-step layup.

When trying to beat the defender with a fancy move on the way to the hoop, Acrobat is a great choice for Shooting Guards. This Badge will apply to and improve almost any of the layup moves one would use when driving past a defender, making it one of the best for layup aficionados.

7 Pro Touch

Pro Touch is a Finishing Badge that will boost the shooting percentage on layups. This Badge will activate whenever the player has slightly early, slightly late, or excellent release timing on their layup attempt.

While having good timing on shot releases will be important for Shooting Guards, Pro Touch helps maximize the effect for slashers. This Badge will activate on many of the player’s layups, as the window of opportunity to activate this Badge is relatively generous.

6 Catch & Shoot

Catch & Shoot is a Shooting Badge that boosts the player’s 3-point and mid-range shooting attributes. This Badge will activate when the player attempts a jump shot immediately after catching the basketball.

While the term “spot-up shooter” is seen by some as an indictment, spot-up shooting is an invaluable skill for a Shooting Guard. It is practically essential, as the off-guard will be the player on the team most expected to space the floor off-ball on the perimeter. Therefore, Catch & Shoot is highly recommended.

5 Corner Specialist

Corner Specialist is Shooting Badge that improves the ability to make 3-point or mid-range shots. This Badge will activate when shooting in the corners (along the baseline but excluding the key).

The corners are one of the primary spots in which 3-point shooters space the floor, and Shooting Guards will likely benefit from this Badge more than any other position. Players can either shoot immediately off the catch or dribble past a defender who is closing out and take a good mid-range off the dribble.

4 Deadeye

Deadeye is a Shooting Badge that reduces the negative impact on a player’s shot that is caused by a defender who is closing out. This Badge will activate when the player either takes a semi-contested shot or takes an open shot while a nearby defender comes to contest the shot.

Ideally, gamers will want to be wide-open with their feet set and hands ready. However, opposing teams won’t provide many of those opportunities, especially when playing online in The Neighborhood. Shooting Guards command defensive attention on the perimeter, and Deadeye will greatly improve the ability to make shots under defensive pressure.

3 Hot Zone Hunter

Hot Zone Hunter is a Shooting Badge that boosts a player’s shooting percentages on field goal attempts. This Badge will activate when shooting in a player’s Hot Zones, which a player can check in their Player Card.

Once gamers unlock Hot Zones for their MyPlayer by efficiently scoring in certain areas, they can use this Badge to gain an extra boost on their shot attempts. Shooting Guards will likely find favored spots for shooting outside the perimeter and along the baseline in the corners.

2 Tight Handles

Tight Handles is a Playmaking Badge that increases a player’s dribbling ability when defended by an opponent. This Badge will occasionally activate on certain dribble moves when guarded.

Shooting Guards will want this Badge to shake off a defender and create their own shot, or make space to drive to the basket. While the Point Guard will usually try to set up the Shooting Guard for an open shot, this Badge will help players to get by their defender and get a bucket.

1 Quick First Step

Quick First Step is a Playmaking Badge that increases the acceleration for ball-handlers. This Badge will activate when dribbling out of a triple threat or size-up.

When Shooting Guards get the ball on offense, they’ll often be in a triple threat, which means they can pass, shoot or dribble. Unless the player decides to shoot, they’ll want this Badge to explosively accelerate by their defender to get a better scoring opportunity.
