New streaming services continue to give subscribers fresh options, but Disney+ has some great choices for people of all ages. The Disney vault spans many genres and eras. When looking through movies on Disney+, one will find a large number of comedies that were created by Disney or have been acquired just for the streaming platform.

Laughter can sometimes be the best medicine, and the comedy options on Disney+ are worth exploring for adults and kids alike. Which movies are the best ones to watch right now?

10 The Haunted Mansion (2003): 5.0

For some people, it’s never a bad time to watch a spooky movie, especially if it has its funny moments, too. The Haunted Mansion is one of Eddie Murphy’s most popular family movies. In it, he plays Jim Evers, a real estate agent whose wife wants him to be more attentive to his children.

While trying to take his family on vacation, Jim needs to make a stop to check on a property, which just happens to be a haunted mansion. The film pays homage to the Disney theme park attraction, but it is quite an entertaining ride in itself.

9 You Again (2010): 5.8

You Again is a great addition to Disney+ because it’s a comedy that a slightly older demographic can enjoy. Marni (Kristen Bell) can’t believe her brother is about to marry her high school archenemy. She tries to make her family see how terrible the nemesis really is, and she’s not the only one with this type of thinking.

Marni’s mom (Jamie Lee Curtis) went to school with the fiancée’s aunt, thus creating another rivalry leading up to the wedding. Kristen Bell and Jamie Lee Curtis are hysterical in their roles as they create a chaotic family comedy surrounding a wedding.

8 The Other Me (2000): 6.1

The Other Me is one of Disney Channel’s most underrated original movies, and it happens to have some of the funniest scenes. Andy Lawrence plays a middle schooler named Will Browning who accidentally clones himself for a science project.

The clone, Twoie, goes to school and masquerades as Will so that the real Will can stay home and get out of doing his school work. As mad scientists are on the hunt for the clone, Twoie quickly becomes the most popular guy in the cafeteria. Everyone thinks Will is the coolest dancer around, and his moves are still hilarious.

7 Sky High (2005): 6.2

Fans of Sky High rejoiced when the teen comedy finally arrived on Disney+. Not only does Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) have the perfect superhero name, he also has the perfect best friend in Layla Williams (Danielle Panabaker). Will and Layla can understand what it’s like to grow up around superpowers, but Layla’s gift for communicating with (and manipulating) nature has already started to bloom at the beginning of the movie.

Will, on the other hand, doesn’t inherit his super strength or flight abilities for awhile. It’s hard to juggle run-of-the-mill high school problems with the rigorous training programs at Sky High, but Will and his parents (played by Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston) keep viewers laughing through the suspense of trying to save the world.

6 The Princess Diaries (2001): 6.3

It’s hard to believe that The Princess Diaries has its 20th anniversary in 2021. The royal comedy is great to watch anytime because of the timeless chemistry between the cast, and Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) and Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews) are two of Disney’s most beloved characters.

There are a few dramatic moments tucked into the story, but The Princess Diaries is still one of the funniest comedy movies to watch on Disney+. Many viewers can relate to Mia’s clumsiness and quirkiness, which are matched perfectly by the quick wit of her best friend, Lilly Moscovitz (Heather Matarazzo).

5 The Mighty Ducks (1992): 6.6

The Mighty Ducks went from one movie to an entire franchise in the 1990s, including a real-life hockey team inspired by the films. It’s a great time to look back on where it all began, as fans flock to their televisions for The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

The 2021 reboot brings back Emilio Estevez as Coach Gordon Bombay, but a lot has happened since the lawyer coached the original team for his community service sentence. Fans might want to revisit their favorite team members before cheering on some new ones.

4 Aladdin (2019): 6.9

2019’s Aladdin is one of Disney’s most comedic live-action remakes. Mena Massoud truly humanizes the character of Aladdin, and Naomi Scott gives renewed strength and depth to the role of Jasmine. Will Smith is the funniest cast member, though. He is the larger-than-life Genie who has the power to change Aladdin’s whole world.

Genie listens to Aladdin, gets excited about his love life, and watches him make major decisions. He knows when to be serious and impart wisdom, and he knows when to let loose. It’s always fun to rewatch this movie.

3 Big (1988): 7.3

Big is one of the best early Tom Hanks movies. In it, he plays Josh Baskin, a 12-year-old boy who wishes for adulthood at a carnival. Josh’s wish comes true when he wakes up as a 30-year-old man.

Though a few moments in the film are more serious, there are so many funny scenes where Josh is trying to figure out how to function as a grown-up. He does pretty well for himself and finds that all those years being a kid have made him a marketing genius for a toy company.

2 The Muppet Movie (1979): 7.6

Muppet fans have plenty of choices on Disney’s streaming platform, and The Muppet Movie is a great option to check out. The film is certainly of a different time, but it’s a fun story that gives viewers a chance to see all their favorite characters work together.

After Kermit has a meeting with a talent scout, the Muppets are going to Hollywood. They have a long journey ahead of them, and it could be dire for Kermit when he crosses paths with a fast-food restaurant owner who sells frog legs. Jim Henson’s Muppets still elicit plenty of laughs, and the soundtrack has some of their best songs, like “Rainbow Connection” and “Movin’ Right Along.”

1 Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988): 7.7

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is more of an adult comedy, and those who grew up with a colorful array of cartoons will likely appreciate it. The ambitious project not only includes Disney’s animated characters; it’s even more jam-packed with Warner Brothers characters.

All of Toon Town is in danger, and private eye Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins) must help by protecting Roger Rabbit (voiced by Charles Fleischer) from Judge Doom (Christopher Lloyd). This hybrid of live-action and animation is quite entertaining and humorous.
