As the plot lines have changed, a variety of new roles have been created, giving audiences a wide choice of enchanting characters to connect to. Reddit users have discussed which characters they believe to be the best, for a number of different reasons.

Mufasa – The Lion King

As one of the most rewatchable movies of the 90s, The Lion King is a movie that has captured the hearts of many a viewer, through the love, powerful plotline, and heartwarming characters.

Died saving his son and even in death his spirit encouraged his son to become a great leader.” Although a lion, Mufasa imparted wisdom that struck a chord with audiences. The wonderful scriptwriting allowed viewers to buy into Mufasa’s profound leadership, acknowledging him as admirable.

Edna – The Incredibles

The Incredibles took the narrative of a seemingly ordinary family who lives extraordinary lives as superheroes. The family is interesting enough, with powers ranging from extreme strength to invisibility.

But Reddit User PizzaSquish recognized a different character from the movie as the best. “Edna Mode from The Incredibles. Witty, smart and easily the most interesting character in the movie.” As a role without powers, she is still acknowledged as one of the most intriguing, which proves what a great personality she has. Her confidence and comedy are two of her best factors, which add an extra engaging element to the film. Not all superheroes wear capes, some make them.

David – Lilo And Stitch

The classic prince saving a princess narrative has slowly become outdated, with a new wave of heroines and a different portrayal of romance. David has proven to be a character with a kinder understanding of what Nani (the girl he likes) may need, instead of forcing any relationship onto her.

He’s a wholesome guy willing to wait for Nana to get her life on track…” Any character which shows compassion and a new perspective on love in comparison to what has previously been portrayed has a place in the best Disney characters. Olaf – Frozen

Frozen quickly became the greatest magical film for a generation of children (and adults,) with songs such as “Do You Want To Build A Snowman,” that have stuck with viewers nearly 10 years since the film’s release. However, it’s not just the songs and their lyrics that made the popular film what it is today.

The characters of Frozen are a superb mix, with one particular part standing out for Redditor broe17, who stated “I personally love Olaf, always has the right (hilarious) thing to say.” There’s no questioning that Disney loves to include a moment of profundity in every film, but Olaf’s delivery injects a little humor, always making the scene lighthearted and leaving viewers wishing they could be Olaf’s friend.

Esmerelda – The Hunch Back Of Notre Dame

Esmerelda’s story is as unique as it is inspiring. Her ethnicity meant she was treated appallingly, leaving her to feel as if she was an outcast, when in fact the true outcasts were those who didn’t have any amount of kindness in their hearts.

However, the adversity she faced didn’t stop her from helping others, and as Redditor Shadow_strife stated, she is “Compassionate, beautiful, heroic and artistically talented.” Her heroism came with an abundance of strength, warmth, skill, and the belief to stand up for what’s right. As a compelling role model for young children, she remains one of the best Disney characters.

Cinderella – Cinderella

An endearing feature of any character is when they don’t conform to what may be expected of them or prove that they can have more than just one characteristic. For Reddit user Hipster-Aurora, that character is “Cinderella. Kicking the idea that traditional femininity/gentleness and strength are opposites right out the window.”

Cinderella didn’t let her opponents change her personality or become someone she wasn’t. She remained strong when she could have crumbled at the unfair life she had to lead and found beauty in the things around her.

Goofy – A Goofy Movie

The original Disney characters have become the face of the company, easily identified by many generations. Overall, Disney has an eclectic mix of characters, from heroes to villains. But sometimes, it’s the simplest personalities that capture the hearts of audiences.

Tinker Bell – Peter Pan
