Ben and Casey Affleck are the kind of duo that many actor siblings would probably wish to be. Both Affleck brothers have starred in numerous highly successful projects that have brought them acclaim both from critics and from regular viewers, along with success at the box office. Moreover, they have been lucky enough to work with some of the best directors of recent decades.

But to truly appreciate just how talented they are – since they both also direct and write movies – it’s worth looking at both of their filmographies to see which of their movies are the most beloved by audiences.

10 The Town (2010) – 7.5

Though somewhat forgotten nowadays, The Town was a significant success, both for Ben Affleck, who was praised for his direction and the adapted screenplay he co-wrote, and for one of his co-stars, Jeremy Renner, who was nominated for the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Based on the 2004 novel, Prince of Thieves, the movie focuses on a group of bank robbers in Boston who decide to get one final score – by robbing Fenway Park.

9 The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford (2007) – 7.5

Even though the lengthy title may scare some, it’s actually a worthy movie that received acclaim both for its beautiful cinematography and Casey Affleck’s performance, for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.

Adapted from the novel of the same name, it depicts the relationship between Jesse James (Brad Pitt) and Robert Ford (Casey Affleck), as well as the events that led up to the killing.

8 Dazed And Confused (1993) – 7.6

Before Ben Affleck became famous, he had more minor roles, one of them being in Richard Linklater’s cult teen comedy, Dazed and Confused. In fact, there were other soon-to-be A-listers who starred in the movie, including Milla Jovovich and Matthew McConaughey.

Set in 1976, in Texas, the movie follows different groups of teenagers during the last day of school, right before the summer of that year.

7 Gone Baby Gone (2007) – 7.6

Ben Affleck’s feature-length directorial debut wouldn’t have been complete without his brother playing the title role. Gone Baby Gone was a critical success and garnered numerous award nominations.

Based on the 1998 novel by Dennis Lehane, the film follows two private investigators looking for a young girl who was abducted from her mother’s apartment in Boston.

6 Argo (2012) – 7.7

Another one of Ben Affleck’s directorial works, Argo also sees the actor playing the lead role alongside Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, and others. The movie was a huge commercial and critical success, going on to win multiple awards, including Best Picture (Academy Awards and Golden Globes) and Best Director (Golden Globes).

Based on real events, it tells the story of a CIA agent who, during the 1979-1981 Iran hostage crisis, led the rescue mission of six U.S. diplomats in Tehran under the guise of being sci-fi movie location scouts.

5 Ocean’s Eleven (2001) – 7.7

By far one of the most entertaining heist comedies of all time, Ocean’s Eleven doesn’t suffer one bit from the curse of the remake. In fact, its cast, with such big names as George Clooney and Julia Roberts (and, of course, Casey Affleck), as well as its impeccable writing and direction, are probably the reasons for its immense success.

Two friends, Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan, decide to go on a heist to steal $160 million from a casino owner, who is Ocean’s ex-wife’s lover. To do this, the two gather a team of professionals who will make the plan possible.

4 Manchester By The Sea (2016) – 7.8

The movie that gave Casey Affleck the Academy Award for Best Actor, Manchester by the Sea is one of the most recent, widely acclaimed independent dramas.

Written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan, it follows a depressed man named Lee Chandler whose brother dies and he becomes entrusted with the care of his teenage nephew.

3 Gone Girl (2014) – 8.1

One of David Fincher’s most acclaimed works, Gone Girl was a massive commercial success. Though most people remember Rosamund Pike’s performance, Ben Affleck was just as good in his role.

Based on the 2012 novel of the same name, it is set in Missouri and follows a man named Nick Dunne, whose wife Amy suddenly disappears and he becomes the prime suspect in the case.

2 Good Will Hunting (1997) – 8.3

Good Will Hunting is both known as a great drama and as the movie that brought Ben Affleck and Matt Damon into the spotlight, with the two winning the Best Original Screenplay Academy Award and Affleck becoming the youngest to do so to date. Casey Affleck also starred in the movie, though his role was less significant.

The story follows a rebellious 20-year-old janitor named Will Hunting, who is secretly a genius but refuses to work towards recognition or improving his life.

1 Interstellar (2014) – 8.6

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is often regarded as his best work – or at least one of his best movies. And even though Casey Affleck didn’t have a very big role in the movie, it still ranks as the highest-rated work in his filmography.

Set in a dystopian future where Earth is slowly dying, it follows a group of astronauts who are sent to space to find a different planet where mankind can survive.
