If there is one character that has truly traveled the gauntlet from villain to hero in the MCU, it is Loki. Now, the God of Mischief is getting ready to have the spotlight completely to himself with the launch of his self-titled Disney+ series that will premiere Wednesday, June 9, 2021.

Loki promises to be one of the most interesting ventures the MCU has taken yet, with the consequences of Loki stealing the Tesseract during Avengers: Endgame bringing the reality of the infamous Marvel Multiverse fully into the MCU.

10 Thor’s Drunk and Loki Is Over It

This meme by Stephanie Koch is a true callback to the first Thor movie. Thor really was about making a statement with the thunder and lightning, and even before Loki showed his true colors, you could tell he was over it. As the movie started, it felt a lot like a typical sibling rivalry before Loki really let his ambition and true self be known.

With the look of derision and pent-up frustration under those rolling eyes, this meme perfectly wraps up the Godly sibling rivalry that lasted through the entire first three phases.

9 Loki’s Two Eyes

Loki may not necessarily have the backing of an entire planet or the armory available to any government’s most advanced tactile unit. However, the great thing about him is that he never lets what he doesn’t have get him down. Here, Loki shows his brilliant smile and logic to respond to the not-so-subtle bragging that every fan knows would happen with Fury and Odin.

In this meme, found on Memezilla.com, Loki lets them have their say, smiles, and comes back with the lowest personal blow he can. This is why he is such a fan favorite – he will always say what you would only think.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

8 One Job, Dude

One of the best moments in Thor: Ragnarok was when the audience got a glimpse into how Loki ruled over Asgard when disguised as Odin. The God of Mischief did not let anyone down. From the grandiose tribute statue to the daily performances of the very exaggerated reminiscence of his “death,” Loki acts in a way where fans feel that Asgardians have to know it’s not really Odin.

This meme by Mobile_Eve takes one of the best parts of that movie and applies it to sibling issues – which also fits into the realm of Loki and Thor so well that it is a seamless transition.

7 Two Infinity Stones

Every die-hard MCU fan had a pause when Ebony Maw gave the space stone to Thanos and announced that no other being had ever wielded two of the powerful stones before. Whether or not this is true is a debate that continues to rage within the more devoted MCU fan groups – a fact that this meme brilliantly points out.

When Loki came to Earth in 2012’s Avengers, he came with the Mind Stone in his scepter. He takes the Tesseract and uses the Space Stone within to open the portal for the Chitauri. The debate is that some claim he didn’t wield the Space Stone – he had a device built using it. Others claim he didn’t wield either, as he used the Mind Stone within the scepter. However, many are of the school of thought that he did wield them both, and this meme by WatermelonTurtle will add to the debate for years to come.

6 Younger Sibling School Problems

Many fans have noticed that Loki is big on grandiose introductions. He always likes to introduce himself by declaring all of the titles associated with him or with some kind of dramatic statement. Here, Loki is basically declaring how he is destined for greatness.

In this meme from Dj_Chetty on Reddit, when Erik Selvig pops up asking if he is Thor’s brother, Loki is every single younger sibling in a small school who has had the same teacher as their much beloved, overachiever older sibling. It makes his intense anger and frustration that much more relatable, especially to those younger siblings who want to be their own person.

5 Lowkey Party

Loki may be the villain in multiple movies within the MCU, however, he is a fan favorite and hands down one of the coolest characters portrayed. This meme really appeals to those really devoted fans who would love to be invited to any kind of party related to the Avengers.

The idea of Loki using his own name as a pun and looking to you to make sure you caught what he did is perfectly Loki. The rest of the crew joining in, even though they are usually fighting Loki, just so they aren’t left out of the pun game, is the perfect meme, shared by stephenwood51.

4 Mood = Loki

The mood meme is not new and will continue to be applied to every popular reference in the near and far future. Sometimes it is obvious that the object of the mood meme is a stretch, just so whatever current pop culture thing can be represented in this popular style of a meme.

This is not the case with Loki. The choices for this one are spot on, from his grief and anger of his mother’s murder to his honest answering of the question of whether or not he is good, varying at the moment. Loki IS a mood and based on this meme on iFunny by Clairebear199715, one that most people don’t want to see coming at them.

3 Conquering Earth Is NOT Fun

“Go ahead, Loki. Do you want to conquer Earth? Yeah, you should totally do it. That sounds like fun.” When Thanos and his Black Order encouraged Loki to give in to his more homicidal urges and take over the Earth in Avengers, he probably really did think it would be easy and would have a lot of fun doing it.

When exactly Loki realized it was not going to be easy or fun is unclear, but by the time Hulk smashes him into the floor of Stark Tower, he definitely figured it out, as depicted in this Pinterest meme by Rebecca Martinez.

2 The Real Get Help

“Get help” is one of the best moments in Thor: Ragnarok, a true fan favorite exchange. When attempting to steal a ship, Loki and Thor disagree over how to cause a distraction. Thor loves doing what they call “get help,” and Loki hates it – but of course, Thor wins.

“Get help” involves Thor carrying Loki’s dead weight body, yelling “get help,” then picking Loki up and using him as a weapon, throwing him into the enemies like a bowling ball into pins. This meme on Quirkybyte uses the juxtaposition of that rouse to the moment in Avengers: Infinity War when it appears that Thanos has truly killed Loki, and Thor knows that no amount of real help could get him out of this.

1 Keeping Death Loki

Loki’s many deaths are one of the longest-running jokes in the MCU world. It appears that Thanos did kill the Loki that was known in the original MCU timeline at the beginning of Infinity War, but it appears to have been worked around in Endgame, and imgflip has a field day with it in this meme.

With a nod to the fact that Loki, again, found a way to cheat death and allude to the fact that all things are possible with the stolen Tesseract, this meme is definitely a tongue-in-cheek reference to all that could happen in this new and exciting world of possibilities.
