Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Book Of Boba Fett.

The Book of Boba Fett seemingly wrapped up the story of the titular bounty hunter, but the story is far from over. The series set up numerous plot threads for The Mandalorian season 3, and perhaps even beyond. It’s never too early to predict what might happen and with Din Djarin and Grogu reunited, some of the next steps in their journey begin to come into focus.

Some natural predictions for next season include the fallout in the criminal underworld from the events on Tatooine for Din Djarin and others, as well as the continuing saga of Mandalore. Grogu has chosen the way of the Mandalorians, but his ultimate destiny still likely involves a lightsaber. The third season may bring him closer to a fate that combines both the way of the Force and the Mandalorians.

Din Djarin Moves Up In The Guild

True Star Wars fans know Cad Bane is one of the most powerful bounty hunters in the galaxy, but his shocking death on Tatooine changes the game in a lot of ways. For Din Djarin, it potentially allows him to move up in the world of the Guild.

The Guild of bounty hunters operates on a meritocracy in some respects, with the most successful and willing bounty hunters favored by the most powerful clients. With Bane out of the way Din Djarin likely moves up the ladder if he wants to.

The Criminal Underworld Keeps Changing

Cad Bane isn’t the only major change in the galaxy. The defeat of the Pykes on Tatooine is likely to have massive ripple effects throughout the criminal underworld, especially as they had already displaced some of the most powerful Hutts, like the Twins.

The fall of the Pykes and the loss of the spice trade on Tatooine is likely to invite other potential players into the mix, including possibly Crimson Dawn, a powerful criminal syndicate with existing ties to the Pykes and Hutts alike.

Mod Cobb Vanth

The Book of Boba Fett ended with Marshal Cobb Vanth severely injured by Cad Bane. The mid-credits teaser revealed that he’s going to be the recipient of some mods, and it’s likely season three will return to the character and his new status quo.

It will be interesting to see what mods in particular that Cobb Vanth undergoes, as his wound seemed to be primarily in his shoulder. His new modifications may also lead him to join the mod gang in Mos Espa, possibly leaving Freetown.

Return To Nevarro

One of the few characters not to return in The Book of Boba Fett from The Mandalorian is Greef Karga, the magistrate of Nevarro, but he’s sure to return in season 3. It’s likely Din Djarin and Grogu return to Nevarro at some point in the season.

Nevarro has been a central location for the series since the beginning and will likely continue to play a role, though some aspects of it are likely to change including the fact that Gina Carano is no longer part of the series.

Helping Ahsoka Find Thrawn

For a time, Grand Admiral Thrawn was one of the best Star Wars Legends characters who deserved screen time. Thanks to his appearance in animation he’s canon, and he could appear in season 3, as Din Djarin may help Ahsoka Tano find him.

Ahsoka is on the hunt for Thrawn, most likely in connection with her search for Ezra Bridger from Star Wars: Rebels. Din Djarin may discover clues to his whereabouts in season 3 that will help set up Ahsoka’s series, which will follow in 2023.

Meeting Sabine Wren

If that comes to pass, then it’s likely that season 3 will also introduce Sabine Wren to live-action. Sabine Wren has been cast for the Ahsoka series, to be played actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Both characters make a lot of sense in season 3 of The Mandalorian given how interconnected to new series are.

Sabine in particular makes sense, as she has a strong connection to the Darksaber. Star Wars fans know Sabine passed it willingly to Bo-Katan Kryze, an act which The Armorer believes cursed Mandalore and led to its downfall.

Grogu Teaches Din How To Use The Darksaber

Din Djarin struggled with using the Darksaber in The Book of Boba Fett. The sword seemed to get heavier the more he used it and he even injured himself while using it in battle. He needs some training and Grogu may be the one to help him.

Grogu likely isn’t experienced with lightsabers personally, but he benefited from Luke Skywalker’s teaching in his brief time with the Jedi Master. He could pass on some tips to help Din make better use of the Darksaber in the future.

Grogu Isn’t Done With The Jedi

Grogu chose Din Djarin over Luke Skywalker in the finale of The Book of Boba Fett, but, likely, his journey with the Jedi isn’t over. He may not go back to being a student of Luke’s, but he could continue to grow in the Force and apply Luke’s teachings.

Luke felt he was helping Grogu remember more of his training than actually teaching him, meaning Luke’s tutelage may have unlocked lessons and talents Grogu already has and may use in his way in the future, following a unique path toward becoming Mandalorian and Jedi.

The Armorer Becomes The Big Bad

The Armorer’s brief appearance in episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett revealed deep ideological differences between her and Bo-Katan, who still aims to be the leader of Mandalore. The Armorer’s inflexibility may lead to her becoming the ultimate big bad of the series.

The Armorer’s identity is unknown, but the horns on her helmet hint at a link to Death Watch and Darth Maul’s reign on Mandalore during the Clone Wars. That could make her a natural enemy of Bo-Katan, who fought to displace Maul and his Mandalorian followers.

The Fight For Mandalore Begins

A running plot thread through The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett is the fate of Mandalore. The planet was devastated by the Empire in the Night Of A Thousand Tears and reclaiming it will likely emerge as a major element of season 3.

Din Djarin holds the Darksaber, which makes him the ruler of the planet. Others want the saber to reunite the Mandalorians and raise their planet from the ashes, making it all but certain that a battle for the saber and the planet will be a focus of next season.
