Seann William Scott is a career funny-man, but that’s not all he does. From classics like Old School and Role Models to the lesser-known like Goon and Road Trip, he has been all over the place. If laughter is good for the soul, then Seann William Scott is soul food.

Over the last 20+ years, he has starred in and produced many memorable comedies and is considered one of the all-time greats.  There are few that can deliver his level of comedic genius mixed with seriousness. It’s a combination that is hard to pull off, but he does it well.

10 American Reunion (2012) 6.7

The latest reboot of the American Pie franchise, American Reunion brought back Stifler and the gang one last time in the form of a high school reunion. The audience got to see how all the characters faired after their infamous exploits and what they’re up to now. Most of them were predictable, like Stifler never achieving anything significant after high school. In fact, he craves the attention and brotherhood he felt when he was there and that motivation drives much of the plot in this movie.

Scott delivers probably his best performance in the American Pie series, as this movie called on him to portray a bit of emotional depth, which is something fans hadn’t seen in the previous installments.

9 Goon (2011) 6.8

Goon is one of those movies that most people have probably never heard of it but is quietly a gem. Local dimwit and tough man Doug Glatt is recruited to be an enforcer for a minor league hockey team. He, predictably, finds success in beating his opponents down whenever called upon, but also finds that the camaraderie and friendship he builds with his teammates is something he didn’t know he was missing in his life.

It’s a very relatable tale that executes very well. This movie, rightfully, is a top 10 for Scott. Although it bills itself as more of the same from the funny-man, Scott’s performance and the writing in this movie are vastly understated.

8 Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) 6.8

Scott has been in a lot of productions over the years and he was more involved in some than others. But no matter how large or small his part, he made sure to pack a punch.

His small role in Kevin Smith’s movie, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, is classic Scott. He plays a naive, nerdy college student looking to save animals that are being tested on. His motivations come into question when Jay realizes he is attracted to Shannon Elizabeth’s character and he promptly removes him from the vehicle they are all traveling in. Scott has the ability to wear many hats and the pseudo-lisp and personality he takes on here is a great example of that.

7 Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (2006) 6.8

The sequel to the original hit Ice Age saw a lot of success. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown did suffer from some of the pitfalls of many sequels in being somewhat predictable and failing to capture audiences the same way the original did, but it did do some good.

This movie introduced the exciting duo of Crash and Eddie (Josh Peck). Despite the predictable downturn, this movie gave Scott more well-deserved exposure, even if it’s just with his voice. This movie marked a good progression in the Ice Age saga and helped set up the more successful second sequel.

6 Role Models (2008) 6.8

Role Models is one of Scott’s most well-known roles. This heartwarming comedy about LARPers and accepting yourself is highly rated, and not just on IMDb. Scott’s character, Wheeler, along with Paul Rudd’s character, Danny, are sentenced to 150 hours of community service at a mentorship program after crashing a company vehicle. The court pairs the two delinquents with two children who have problems of their own and the dynamic between the four is hilarious and special.

Scott delivers his usual raunchy persona here with a touch of emotional range that has become his staple. The writing and directing are also top-notch.

5 Vincey Masters: Born To Be A Karate Meister (2007) 6.9

This movie is an enigma. It does not exist. At least that’s what Scott fans may think if they ever try to find it. One of the few movies out there with Scott in the leading role, it is near impossible to find.

In it, Scott stars as an average aquarium tank cleaner but wakes up one day with extensive karate skills and knowledge after getting electrocuted trying to retrieve his Game Boy Advance from one of the tanks.

4 Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs (2009) 6.9

The third movie in the Ice Age franchise performed a lot better than most people expected. Critics and audiences both lauded the film after a slightly disappointing sequel.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs featured the return of two of the more popular characters in the series, Crash and Eddie. Scott’s Crash was a fan favorite for his witty remarks and physical comedy. Although Scott had nothing to do with the latter, the former was very much his doing. This, mixed with the writing and change of scenery versus the previous two films, are what separated the movie from its predecessor.

3 Jackass 3D (2010) 7.0

The Jackass franchise is known for being outrageous, mindless entertainment, which is something that Scott normally fits right into.

Scott is included in this project, but he was not his normal self. Though he does appear in the production, he merely stands and looks unapprovingly without saying a single word. It is a bit disappointing if you’re a Scott fan, but the rest of the movie was definitely entertaining.

2 American Pie (1999) – 7.0

Arguably Scott’s most iconic role, American Pie is a cult classic. The four-movie series was a big hit among younger audiences and even spawned a reunion movie nine years after the third installment.

Following the escapades of several high school teenagers as they navigate relationships, life, and hormones, the American Pie movies make up one of the most well-known franchises in the genre. Arguably, the most memorable character in the series is Scott’s character of Stifler. Several of the storylines happen because of or in spite of him and he easily has the most standout lines and character development.

1 Old School (2003) 7.1

“You just took one in the jugular, man!” One of the older and more well-known movies in Scott’s repertoire, Old School is comedy gold. The star-studded cast of Will Ferrell, Luke Wilson, and Vince Vaughan shine bright in this movie, but also overshadow Scott a bit.

Scott’s role as Peppers is small but one of the funniest in the whole movie, which is saying a lot. He is an aggressive but knowledgeable zookeeper who is looking for an excuse to use his tranquilizer gun on one of the animals. When Will Ferrell’s character accidentally shoots himself, hilarity ensues.
