For four seasons, The Bold Type has entertained fans with its storylines about creating a magazine in New York City. Kat, Sutton, and Jane meet after working at Scarlet and they become super close, helping each other through professional milestones and personal problems. Now the show is returning for its fifth season which will consist of six episodes.

The main characters have always stayed friends, which is the main reason why fans love watching this show so much. But there are some other characters on The Bold Type who are just as great. From the three BFFs to their co-workers and love interests, these New Yorkers are why this show is so popular.

10 Patrick Duchand

Patrick, the head of digital at Scarlet magazine, was only on the show for a brief period of time, and by the fourth season, he was gone. He’s one of the best characters on the show but ranked last as he was only there for season 3.

Patrick creates some conflict at the publication as everyone is nervous about his presence. He and Jane have some flirty moments, which also makes Patrick’s time at Scarlet fun to watch.

9 Ryan Decker

Jane’s main love interest Ryan is also a great character… until he confesses to cheating on Jane, which leaves her heartbroken and feeling super alone. Before this event, that ends their romance, Ryan is a huge supporter of Jane.

He helps her see that she has everything that she needs to be a solid and successful writer, and since he’s a journalist too, she enjoys being around him. Because Ryan hurts Jane and they don’t stay together, he can’t rank higher, but he’s still someone who has a major impact on her journey.

7 Richard Hunter

At the end of season 4, Richard and Sutton break up as she realizes that she doesn’t want to have kids, and he really wants to start a family. This is devastating to watch as they’re newlyweds who had such a bright future ahead of them. Richard is one of the better characters on the show and that’s all thanks to his relationship with Sutton.

He supports her career and loves that she’s so passionate about fashion, but he also knows that he has to listen to his heart and what he wants, and that is a difficult place to be in. Richard is kind and mature, and he has loved Sutton the way that she deserves to be loved.
