Full House is either the show you love or the show you love to hate. When mentioning the series, there are those who say, “You got it, dude!” and then there’s those who shout, “Cut it out!” Some people adore the frequent catchphrases and sappy family moments, while others think it’s all just a bit strange.

While fans of Full House may hold the show near and dear to their hearts, they have to admit that there were some things about the series that were just a little odd, no matter how you look at it. Here are ten weird things about the show that fans accepted as normal:

10 Mr. Woodchuck

Not only did we, as the audience, accept Joey’s little puppet friend, but the whole Tanner household did as well. Joey used him for his fictional kid’s show Ranger Joe, but for some reason, Mr. Woodchuck often showed up around the house randomly as the family went about their lives.

He was a strange little character, always talking about wood and making bad puns. It was cute the first time, but he kept coming back.  Joey was no ventriloquist either. Mr. Woodchuck was there to make the house a little fuller, and everyone just went along with it.

9 Everyone Was Famous

Did you ever notice that all of the adult characters on Full House were famous? (We’re using the term “famous” loosely here, but everyone was in the public eye.)

Danny and Aunt Becky were both hosts of Wake Up San Francisco; Jesse was the frontman in a band and had a radio show; Joey was also a host of the same radio show, the host of Ranger Joe, and he voiced a cartoon kangaroo on a show with Annette Funicello (even though they only talked about it for one episode). It all just seemed normal to everyone that they had jobs in the limelight.

8 Jesse’s Name Change

Good old Uncle Jesse, Danny’s brother in law who moved in to help take care of the girls. He loves Elvis, playing guitar, motorcycles, and squishing bugs. Anyone who has seen Full House probably noticed that the cool, hip Uncle Jesse’s last name changed after the first season. Jesse Cochran was renamed Jesse Katsopolis with no mention of the name change what so ever on the show.

The official behind the scenes reason is that John Stamos wanted his character to reflect more of his Greek heritage, but on screen, everyone acted as if Cochran never even happened.

7 The DNA Made No Sense

If you’ve taken a science class, you probably know about genetics and punnet squares. Darker colors are more dominant than lighter colors, and thus the darker colors usually win out. This wasn’t the case on Full House. Danny had dark hair, and his Greek wife was blonde. They gave birth to three blonde girls. Not impossible, but strange.

The DNA continued to be a little off as Uncle Jesse, a dark-haired Greek man, and his dark-haired wife, both with dark eyes, gave birth to two little blonde blue-eyed boys.  We haven’t done the math, but the chances seem pretty small that the kids would end up with the coloring that they did!

6 Jesse Performed Everywhere

One plot point that was continuous throughout the show was Jesse’s career as a musician. He wrote music, he played the guitar and piano, and he had two bands – Jesse and The Rippers and Hot Daddy and The Monkey Puppets.

One thing was strange was that Jesse seemed to get more opportunities to perform than the average struggling musician. He performed with the band in a large show when they went to Hawaii, he performed in Disney World, and he even got to perform at a Beach Boys concert. He was a good musician, but he wasn’t outrageously amazing or anything.

5 The Beach Boys Were Always There

Speaking of the Beach Boys, they seemed to show up an awful lot. First, they were on Danny’s show, and then they came to the Tanner house that same episode and just chilled with everyone before their concert. In another episode, Mike Love spontaneously showed up at a telethon hosted by Danny, where Love sang “True to Your School.”

Then a few of the Boys were hanging out with Jesse and gave him permission to record his own version of “Forever,” and they later appeared in the music video with him. Stamos and the Beach Boys performed together often in real life, so it makes sense that they would be on Full House at least once. In the context of the show though, it just seemed a bit random.

4 Joey Slept In The Living Room

Once upon a time, two guys moved in with their pal Danny to help him take care of his daughters. Two of the girls moved into the same room so that there was a free bedroom for one of the men, leaving the other man to… sleep in the family room?

The living room on Full House had a very small alcove, and this is where Joey made his new home when he moved in. Everyone acted as if it’s perfectly normal to have a bedroom with only three walls. Thankfully, Joey eventually got the converted basement/garage and moved out of the “spacious” alcove.

3 The Mysterious Stairs

This one is a commonly know goof in the Full House fandom. There is a set of steps in the kitchen that lead upstairs, and there is another staircase in the living room. We have seen shots of people going up both sets of stairs, and then the next view is of them coming up the stairs.

Strangely enough though, we only ever seen one set of stairs upstairs, meaning both of the downstairs steps eventually lead to the same place on the second floor. They could have eliminated the kitchen stairs and made things less complicated.

2 Everyone Bullied Kimmy

Kimmy Gibbler was the neighbor from next door and DJ’s best friend, and this kid took way more hits than she deserved. Every single member of the family (besides DJ) was mean to her throughout the entire season for no real reason. They called her names, complained about how annoying she was, made random digs at her like saying she stinks, and overall just treated her terribly.

The only thing she ever really did was burst into the house without knocking. However, DJ’s boyfriend Steve often did the same thing, and nobody was ever mean to him. Poor Kimmy didn’t deserve everyone’s bad attitudes, but it was just common and accepted knowledge to the audience that she was bullied.

1 Joey’s Mannequin

We established that Joey slept in the living room for a little while, but he wasn’t the only one who lived in the alcove. He also shared the space with a mannequin, for some unknown reason. Having a life-sized doll in your bedroom (and the living room) is weird enough, but what was really strange is that the mannequin always wore clothes that matched what Joey was wearing.

This means that not only did Joey get up and dress his fashion figure every morning, but he had two of every outfit! How does that even happen? Does Joey have a naked long lost twin somewhere?
