10 Funniest MCU Moments In 2021, Ranked

The MCU had its fair share of sad moments in 2021, with painful goodbyes and shocking twists. But it also had a ton of funny moments as well, including some of the funniest in the entire history of the franchise. Spider-Man: No Way Home contains several, borne out of the unexpected dynamics between new and returning characters trying to make sense of the multiversal differences.

Yelena Belova also featured in many funny scenes, bringing an infectious energy to all of her moments in the MCU so far, especially those that involved Kate Bishop. But there were laughs throughout the movies and streaming series of the MCU in 2021, including candidates for some of the funniest MCU scenes of all time.

You’re Such A Poser (Black Widow)

Yelena Belova is often funny, and she’s often making fun. In one of the top moments of the Black Widow movie, she makes fun of her sister’s tendency to always strike a dramatic superhero pose. Yelena drew out Natasha’s signature pose to comic lengths in the scene and even commented on it again when Natasha landed perfectly in the pose during the prison rescue scene.

What’s even funnier about her playful mocking of the pose is that Yelena eventually uses it herself in the movie, and again in her fight scenes in the Hawkeye series, proving that she was just giving her sister a little bit of a hard time.

Fermented With Spit (Eternals)

Eternals might have been the most somber of the MCU entries in 2021, but it had its fair share of funny moments. The funniest might have been the reunion between most of the Eternals and Gilgamesh and Thena. Gilgamesh tells Kingo that the alcohol he is drinking was made from corn kernels he chewed himself and then fermented in his own spit.

It’s a gross but funny moment that makes light of Kingo’s very luxurious tastes as a rich and famous Bollywood star. Gilgamesh lives a very simple life with Thena, and despite his god-like power, is pretty down to earth.

Alligator Loki Bites President Loki (Loki)

One of the biggest surprises in the Loki series was the appearance of Alligator Loki, one of the most random variants of the Asgardian trickster in the MCU. He also gets one of the funniest scenes of 2021, when he mercilessly bites off the hand of another variant, President Loki.

Alligator Loki maims his arrogant variant after President Loki attempts to depose Kid Loki, who is nominally in charge of the underground bunker several Lokis occupy in The Void. It’s a tense scene made absurdly funny by the congress of so many variants of Loki and the comical way it all plays out.

Bread-Sense (Spider-Man: No Way Home)

Spider-Man: No Way Home is as full of funny moments as it is sad ones, and one of the funniest occurs in perhaps its biggest scene. When the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man first walks through a portal into the home of Ned Leeds, MJ challenges him to prove he’s Peter Parker. She keeps trying to activate his Spider-Sense by throwing bread at him.

This goes on despite the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man’s polite protests, and his hanging from the ceiling from his fingers. MJ doesn’t go for it, and asks him to crawl around, leading to some of the funniest bits of the entire movie.

Holiday Party (Hawkeye)

One of the funniest scenes in the generally funny Hawkeye series comes in episode four when Kate Bishop and Clint Barton throw an impromptu holiday party. They get drunk on frozen daiquiris and talk about the impracticality of boomerang arrows, which are actually among Hawkeye’s best weapons in Marvel Comics.

Clint also teaches Kate how to use a nickel as a deadly weapon, leading to some funny moments in the montage as she destroys a series of objects in her aunt’s apartment before unlocking the ability to flick the coin in a way that comes back to help her later with Kingpin.

Viva Las Vegas (What If..?)

What If..? generally allowed for some darker takes on the MCU, but one of the funniest MCU moments of 2021 came when Thor avenged Las Vegas after the incursion of Ultron drones. His indignity over the attack on his new favorite place became a rallying cry when he proclaimed “Viva Las Vegas!” in the final battle with Ultron.

This variant of Thor is a comedy goldmine in general, but his hilarious tribute to Las Vegas – which he nearly destroyed thanks to his own cosmic partying – makes for one of the best MCU moments of the year.

Agatha All Along (WandaVision)

Agnes was a source of a lot of laughs throughout WandaVision, but her greatest moment came when she revealed herself as the powerful magician Agatha Harkness in the final moments of episode seven. Her theme song and montage “Agatha All Along” was instantly iconic and also instantly funny, with Agatha capping the sequence with a wicked laugh over her murder of Sparky the dog.

The sequence also paid homage to a number of classic television comedy series, including Bewitched and The Munsters, with the music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez hitting a ton of hilarious notes.

Web-Shooters (Spider-Man: No Way Home)

One of the many funny scenes between the three Spider-Men in No Way Home involves the awkward conversation over Tobey Maguire’s webs. Unlike the other two versions of Spider-Man, his webs are unique in that they’re organic in nature and he shoots them out of his body. This leads to disbelief and some uncomfortable questions from the others.

The Andrew Garfield Spider-Man is so struck by the organic webs he comes back to it again and again, bringing it up on the scaffolding of the Statue of Liberty to the dismay of Tobey Maguire, who’d rather talk about anything else.

Drunk Karaoke (Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings)

One of the funniest MCU moments of 2021 pays off throughout Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings. Shang-Chi and Katy’s habit of getting drunk and doing karaoke, and The Eagles’ classic song “Hotel California” in particular, is hysterical from the start.

It only gets better as Katy launches into it acapella to distract a member of the Ten Rings, and in the mid-credits scene, when they talk Wong into joining them at the bar for another drunken rendition.

Kate Bishop Vs. Yelena (Hawkeye)

Just about everything between Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova in Hawkeye is hysterical, but their funniest moment and the funniest MCU moment of 2021 comes in their ‘fight’ at Rockefeller Center. Beginning in the elevator and continuing through a series of offices, their fight isn’t so much a fight as it is a hilarious bonding session.

Yelena is trying not to hurt Kate and is stunned when Kate slaps her. Kate is trying to save Clint Barton and suggests she and Yelena go out for drinks, when Yelena is totally up for, once she kills Barton. It builds and builds, with them actually growing closer by the end of the fight.
