The Harry Potter franchise introduced audiences to a whole host of new compelling and interesting characters, locations and culture. This Wizarding World of course has its own types of food, with the menu drawing from many British classics and a few surprising choices that can only be found in this land of wizards and witches.

Sweets and confectionery are a huge part of British culture and play into the Wizarding World. Locations like Honeydukes boast a huge variety of candies that fans would love to try. But these snacks are not just simple takes on muggle treats, but often feature a shocking twist or a magical side effect that everyone would love to try for themselves.

10 Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans

Bertie Botts has to be one of the most famous confectionery to come out of the Wizarding World. The jelly beans are inspired by the traditional muggle candy, but the difference is they come in all different flavors that no one would expect.

From great hits like lemon of blueberry, to some horrible surprises like ear wax and perhaps even a few hidden treats like toothpaste, there really is a bean for every possible flavor known to humanity.

9 Fizzing Whizzbees

Fizzing Whizzbees are sherbert flavored balls with a little surprise in store for anyone who eats them. Although no actual flies are seemingly in these treats, there are rumors that suggest that some animals are contained with Fizzing Whizzbees.

When eaten, the consumer will actually float a little off of the ground, due to the potent magic inside of them. It’s a fun experiment that everyone would want to try, although the effects of these candies wear off quickly.

The U-No-Poo has always stood out though, perhaps because of its witty name that plays off of the dark lord himself. The consumer will get a bad stomach and need to use the toilet more than usual, making it a hilarious if not cruel joke to play on some friends.

7 Chocolate Frogs

Famous aurors, members of the Ministry of Magic, academics , Hogwarts Headmasters and powerful sorcerers have all been featured on the special cards found inside a chocolate frog box. These cards are enchanted with the portrait sometimes disappearing.

Collectible cards aside, the chocolate frogs themselves are charmed to actually act like frogs. Nonetheless, once bitten into they taste of chocolate-y goodness. It might be a task to catch them, but they are certainly a lot of fun to buy.

6 Exploding Bon Bons

Exploding Bon Bons were made of two key ingredients. Cocoa, which is certainly an ingredient common in confectionery and the rather bizarre coconut dynamite. These two elements together created quite a delicious snack.

But, as the name suggests they also have a very strange side effect. Some of them actually explode when eating them. Although they don’t cause injury, it’s a strange sensation which may feel a little like popping candy but on a much much larger scale.

5 Fudge Flies

Fudge flies are a fun take on a muggle classic. While fudge and chocolate match well together, the popular location Honeydukes likes to mix up the traditional recipe with their own take on this sweet treat.

The result is the fudge fly, which doesn’t appear to have any magical additions but is shaped like an actual fly. There’s a possibility that once again the treat might actually have real animals contained within.

4 Black Pepper Imps

Black Pepper Imps are another sweet sold at Honeydukes and could be used to potentially trick a teacher that the students didn’t like. The name is a play on Peppermint, although these Pepper Imps don’t actually taste like mint.

They are actually quite fiery in nature, not only creating a chilli like flavor, but also actually allowing the consumer to breath fire. As a result, smoke also leaves the nose and ears making for quite the hilarious sight.

3 Sounds Sweets

The Sound Producing sweets were a part of Harry’s third year at Hogwarts, after the boys dorm room managed to get their hands on a pack of them. These candies create a variety of side effects that the teenagers have a lot of fun with.

The sweets may be different flavors but they also create totally different noises. An elephant, a lion and a steam engine, complete with smoke from Harry’s ears, are all examples of types of candy that come from this selection.

2 Cockroach Clusters

Cockroach Clusters are actually made out of cockroaches! While the idea might not be appealing to many people, they are shown to look a little like nuts and is actually a favorite amongst wizards and witches alike.

It’s a niche product and one that has been used to trick family members before, with many trying to convince their relatives or even friends that these are peanuts and not something far more disturbing.

1 Acid Pop

Honeydukes sells one particularly disturbing candy that fans would probably like to try for the challenge. Food challenges are still all the rage, with hot wings and other fiery snakes contributing to the need to challenge the taste buds.

Well the Acid Pop is one candy that perhaps even the mightiest muggles wouldn’t actually want to try. The candy is so hot that it burns a hole through the tongue of whoever is eating. Despite this being painful, it causes no real harm with magic healing the wound in just a few seconds.
