There’s a whole lot of comedy on the way for Hulu, including How I Met Your Father, The Orville, and more, but these are far from the only new shows for fans to look forward to. The last few years have seen a plethora of television content, thanks in part to the ongoing competition among various streaming services to provide audiences with things to watch. Hulu, in particular, has been one of the leaders of this golden age of content, releasing several series of their own, in addition to the content that they distribute for others.

As has been the case with other years, it looks as if 2022 is going to be a particularly strong year for the service, with a number of series set to premiere or continue.

10 How I Met Your Father- January 18

How I Met Your Mother is often considered one of the best comedy series of the 2000s, and with good reason. Even though it concluded some time ago, it has now spawned a sequel, which is now streaming on Hulu. It stars an extraordinary cast that includes Hilary Duff and Kim Catrall. It has a similar premise to the original series, but it also features a number of important updates, many of which revolve around the ways in which the dating world has changed since its predecessor first aired.

9 Pam & Tommy- February 2

There are few figures in the American imagination quite like Pamela Anderson, and there are few couples quite as infamous as Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee. Their sex tape in particular has come to dominate the perception of both them as individuals and as a couple. Pam & Tommy, the new series from Hulu, tries to unpack the cultural voyeurism that led to their infamy, and it is sure to be seen as one of the best roles for both Sebastian Stan and Lily James.

8 Dollface- February 11

The theme of female friendship is one that has been explored many times in television, in both comedy and drama. Dollface falls into the former, focusing as it does on a young woman who has to try to rebuild her lost female friendships in the aftermath of a breakup. The cast is uniformly excellent, and there is something uniquely empowering about its central message.

Though reviews have been somewhat mixed, the second season promises to be even better than its first when it premieres in February.

7 Trolls: TrollsTopia Season 6- February 17

In the world of toys, Trolls occupy a rather special place. It’s therefore not surprising that these real-life toys have become the inspiration for a number of very popular movies and TV series. That includes the series Trolls: TrollsTopia. The series has all of the infectious charm of the movies, with vibrant animation, charismatic voice work, and episodes that aim to teach young viewers valuable lessons about the world and themselves. It is now entering its sixth season, demonstrating how enduring its appeal remains.

6 The Dropout- March 3

In recent years there have been a number of successful and well-received TV series based on podcasts. The Dropout joins that list. In this case, it will focus on Elizabeth Holmes, infamous for creating the company Theranos. Though it was originally slated to star Kate McKinnon, Amanda Seyfriend was later hired to replace her. However, she is not the only major star who is slated to appear in the series, for other luminaries such as William H. Macy, Laurie Metcalf, and Naveen Andrews will also be starring in various roles.

5 The Orville: New Horizons- March 10

The Orville has rightly come to be regarded as one of the better science fiction series of recent years. It is, undoubtedly, one of the best series created by Seth MacFarlane, who is also one of the series’ major stars, and he brings his signature comedic sense and his obvious love of science fiction to the show. Though it was previously aired on Fox, it has now moved to Hulu, and this will mark the third season of the series (and the first since Disney bought Fox and its various properties).

4 Welcome to Flatch- March 17

Hulu has made a name for itself in its ability to bring a wide variety of genres to audiences. That obviously includes comedy, and there have been many fantastic comedies on the streamer. Though it has yet to premiere, it certainly seems as if the new series Welcome to Flatch will join that group.

It will focus on a documentary crew who visit a small town (the titular Flatch), which is full of very strange personalities. Among others, it is slated to star Seann William Scott.

3 Life & Beth- March 18

Amy Schumer is inarguably one of the greatest female comedians working in television. Time and again, she has brought her signature comedic touch to her various projects. Her newest is the series Life & Beth, which focuses on the title character (played by Schumer), whose successful life as a wine distributor hides a great deal of insecurity. In particular, the series will focus on her efforts to engage with her past, which will be mined for both comedy and rich drama.

2 The Old Man- TBA

In addition to its comedic productions, Hulu has already made clear that it will also have a number of other genre series coming in 2022. These include The Old Man, a thriller that is set to appear at some point in the year. The series will focus on a former intelligence officer who faces a return to that world after he is almost assassinated. It is already slated to have a powerful cast. In addition to Jeff Bridges (who has been in many great movies and TV series), John Lithgow is also slated to appear.

1 Pistol- TBA

The story of Pam and Tommy isn’t the only biographical series that Hulu will be releasing in 2022. One of their other major productions will be Pistol, which will focus on one of the most iconic punk rock bands in the history of music. Though plot details of the series are scarce and the release date has yet to be announced, it will surely be one of the bigger events for the steamer, especially since at least one member of the band has announced his opposition.
