When it comes to anime, the year 2021 has been no less spectacular than its predecessors. The year kicked off with the breakout shounen anime series, like Jujutsu Kaisen, and memorable Isekai, like Konosuba. Following this, follow-up seasons of My Hero Academia, Megalobox, Fruits Basket, and Beastars lead the way, making it a great year for sequels.

Since the medium of anime has had such a wonderful run in 2021 so far, fans expect no less from the fall season. And from the looks of it, the lineup for autumn will live up to the high standards of the year.

10 My Senpai Is Annoying  – Available On Funimation (October 10, 2021)

With a tsundere character at its fore, My Senpai Is Annoying highlights the day-to-day romantic endeavors between Igarashi Futuba and her senpai, Takeda Harumi. Similar to every typical tsundere, Igarashi initially despises senpai and hates how he treats her like a child, just because she looks young. But before she knows it, her hate turns into admiration and a lot more.

Although the anime has a lot in common with some of the best characters seen in Toradora and many other romantic anime, it finds its own feet by not unfolding in a high school setup. Instead, it takes place in an office space, which makes it more suitable for the seinen and josei demographics.

9 Banished From The Hero’s Party – Available On Funimation (October 6, 2021)

Bringing an anti-shounen comic twist to its premise, Banished From The Hero’s Party revolves around a former hero who’s done with his herculean antics. After being thrown out of a Hero’s party, he aspires to live a simple life by opening a pharmacy. Unfortunately, all of it seems like a distant dream when an adventurer from his past shows up to stay with him and forces him to relive his days of yore.

From a storyline standpoint, Banished From The Hero’s Party seems to offer something unique. Moreover, despite having little to no Isekai or Ecchi-related themes, it comes off as a fairly hilarious comedy show. So, if executed well, it could easily rank among the best comedy anime of the season.

7 World’s End Harem – Available On Crunchyroll (October 8, 2021)

Ecchi meets sci-fi in World’s End Harem. The show unfolds in a world where a deadly disease has eradicated almost the entire male population. Mizuhara Reito, who went into cryogenic sleep long before the disaster, wakes up as one of the few men who have survived.

To his dismay, though, he has no interest in being a repopulating resource for the planet and instead, only wants to be with the girl of his dreams, Tachibana Erisa. Going back and forth between love and temptation, he struggles to between the wrong and the right. Akin to other Ecchi anime, World’s End Harem seems like a fun manga adaptation that’ll please with its fan service and all the meaty storylines surrounding it.

6 The World’s Finest Assassin – Available On Crunchyroll (October 6, 2021)

Based on a light novel by Rui Tsukiyom, this one combines all tropes of Harem with the Isekai genre and brews up some entertaining fantasy drama. While its generic premise may not appeal to most viewers, fans of Isekai might find themselves enjoying its over-the-top action and romantic melodrama.

The reincarnation trope has been tried and tested by many anime in the past decade. However, this one still manages to bring its own little twist by focusing less on MMORPG dynamics and more on a never-seen-before assassin character. Needless to say, only time will tell if this approach to fantasy will work in its favor or not.

Since Takt Op. Density is an original anime, not much is known about its plot. However, since MAPPA and Madhouse are the studios behind it, viewers have expectations from it.

4 Platinum End – Available On Funimation And Crunchyroll (October 8, 2021)

Platinum End seems to have a lot in common with anime like Death Note. For instance, to portray a contrast between good and evil, it not only relies on action scenes but delves deep into the psyche of its characters. Due to this, it comes as no surprise that it’s created by the same team that made Death Note and Bakuman.

Adapted from Tsugumi Ohba’s eponymous manga, Platinum End revolves around a depressed middle schooler, Mirai Kakehashi. After stopping him from attempting suicide, his guardian angel grants him supernatural abilities and gives him a chance to become the new god. There is, however, a catch: he must duke it out against 12 other “potential Gods” in a battle royale and defeat them within 999 days.
