Disney Princesses, and especially those from the 90’s movies, are iconic characters that shaped the childhood of so many fans. When it comes to young women fantasizing about their princes, Disney has nailed it better than any other. But, thankfully, modern princesses have started to outgrow this “damsel in distress” model where they don’t need a male character to bring them happiness. This has helped modern female characters look less gullible.

Yet, from powerful to worthless, these princesses have inspired entire generations. Their personalities were adorable, some even had a wicked sense of humor and one thing they all had in common in this list (besides their obvious beauty) is that they were pure at heart… And sometimes, they were very easy to persuade.

10 Pocahontas

While she was not the easiest to fool and she is seen enjoying her freedom and independence, Pocahontas had her fair share of gullible choices. Let’s drop the romantic side of her story with John Smith for a minute and take an honest look at her actions: she put her village in danger because of one guy. She saw this man that she never met and shortly after she lets herself fall completely in love. And the truth is that when he showed up, this “symbolic princess” chose to put this love above the loyalty to her people. Of course, there were going to be harsh consequences from this messed up situation as common sense didn’t exist on her part.

9 Megara

She might not be the typical princess from Disney’s classic “fairy-tales” but Megara also had some gullible traits. An incredibly irresistible woman to Hercules’s eyes, she was mysterious and seductive by nature. Fans typically think of her as a cynical, tough young lady, who was manipulative towards the hero of this story by working with the antagonist Hades. What she didn’t know is that she was being played by Hades too. Megara started developing feelings for Hercules but what was worse is that she had already suffered one heartbreak before he came into the picture. So, she was definitely gullible enough to take the bait on another complicated love story even if, in the end, it all ended well.

8 Rapunzel

Just like Princess Aurora’s story, Rapunzel was taken away from her royal parents as a baby (and then kept isolated in a tall tower all through her childhood). But even though she was protected from outside enemies, the person that looked after Rapunzel made her very unaware of the world that existed around her. And viewers can see her funny and unexpected reactions to several people during the movie that showed just how gullible she really was.

That said, eventually her determination to go beyond her locked home and her thriving sense of adventure proved to be bigger than her naivety.

7 Anna

The charming and free-spirited Anna from Frozen was one of the sweetest princesses ever. She was a modern, self-started young lady, and her bond with her sister, Elsa, was one of the most special relationships fans ever saw onscreen. Her happy-go-lucky personality also included a classic ingenuity that characterizes a lot of Disney princesses. Yet, at times Anna could be petulant towards her sister and often pushed her over the edge. The climax came when Anna decided to get married to a man she barely knew for a couple of hours. But Elsa was a wiser sister who disagreed with this decision of Anna’s only to protect her overly foolish sibling.

6 Jasmine

As the lover of the fearless, adventurer Aladdin, princess Jasmine should have been better protected for her safety. As a gullible and inexperienced woman, she didn’t really understand the risks she was taking going on those romantic, magic carpet rides with him. Of course, flying through cities with a new love interest is exciting and a beautiful fantasy, but these two belonged to such different worlds that it was very naive of her to accept his proposal in order to know what it’s like to live a “normal” life. Jasmine is surely an unforgettable princess with many qualities that enchanted viewers but she was certainly not someone prudent.

5 Belle

If there are two things to be said about Belle from Beauty and The Beast it is that she was the least vain and the most intellectual of all the princesses. Not only did she read, but she also had a very charismatic, humble personality showing that she could be a good role model for any woman. But it goes without saying that she was also easy to persuade in some situations, especially when interacting with the beast/prince. Perhaps because she was a hopeless romantic with big dreams, she let her heart take over and fell in love with a “beast” who had made her a hostage. An inspiring turn of events, for sure, but from a logical point of view, it was also a very twisted situation.

4 Cinderella

Isn’t Cinderella considered the most classic Princess ever created? This kind woman, who like other Disney princesses also had a tragic backstory, was turned into a housekeeper and condemned to a life of service. But against all odds, she became living proof that if you believe in your dreams, you can make them come true. One can say she was inspiring and even acted courageously when she went against her stepmother’s decision to not let her go to the ball.

Still, the way she would act while cleaning the house and attending to her sisters’ crazy demands were very gullible. It was very clear that they were up to no good, yet Cinderella often seemed hopeful that they were going to treat her better next time.

3 Ariel

The sweet, innocent young girl from The Little Mermaid had to rank high on this list. The reason for that is that she was completely clueless about the world around her and how things operated. Even though Ariel was 16, she was constantly daydreaming like a child, wanting to be around humans while feeling a strong desire to escape her real world. But the poor teenager didn’t have any idea of what being in the human world was like as she got a chance to experience it. Viewers could see she was totally lost and confused about her decisions for a great majority of the film, and she was so easily tricked by a few characters – Ursula being the worst of them.

2 Aurora

Being raised by three fairies in a cottage had its influence on turning 16-year old Aurora into one of the most gullible princesses of the Disney clan. I mean, having access to three mothers who can show you all kinds of magical powers and making your desires come true must be as fun as it is unrealistic when, afterwards, you are confronted with the real world/the real people. Which is exactly what happened to Aurora. Unaware of her curse and real danger, she went out and immediately trusted the first man she met in the woods. Sure, the prince and princess weren’t aware of each other’s true identities, but even so, her naivety and excessive optimism could have costed her life.

1 Snow White

This character was Disney’s first princess, and she is the epitome of naivety, compassion, and gentleness all together. Snow White’s soft and innocent traits didn’t let her recognise the Evil Queen’s agenda. As she tried to escape this woman’s hunt to take her life, few viewers could resist the lovely scenes where she was dancing and talking with those little dwarfs – just like a pure and totally carefree person. The princess was on the run and should have learned to not trust others easily but she still fell into the trap of eating an apple given to her by a stranger, which led to more troubles.
