10 Most Underrated TV Shows, According To Reddit

Whether talking about fantasy, drama, or sitcoms, there are many TV shows that everyone seems to be watching. In 2020 and 2021 it was Ted Lasso, and fans often praise Seinfeld or Gilmore Girls as a favorite throwback series to binge-watch. But there are also underrated series that sometimes fly under the radar, although people might hear about them from a family or relative from time to time.

Reddit users have discussed their favorite TV shows that not many people have gotten a chance to check out first, ranging from hilarious comedies to compelling sci-fi series that might have gotten lost in the sea of great TV.

10 Party Down (2009-2010)

Party Down depicts the food service field and tells the story of actors who are trying to make ends meet as caterers, but, of course, their real passion is attempting to make it in Hollywood.

Reddit user Sure-Score7 loves Party Down and noted, “it didn’t have nearly as big a following as it should have. Honestly one of the funniest TV series in the past 25 years.” The show features a talented, hilarious cast of Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Adam Scott.

9 Forever (2018)

Reddit user Lycahon loved Forever and said, “I loved it but it didn’t last more than one season.”

June and Oscar have a nice marriage but as they begin to wonder if this is all that there is, they wind up in the afterlife. The show’s depiction of heaven is a pleasant and enjoyable suburb that is definitely pretty boring, and throughout the only season’s eight episodes, the main characters learn more about themselves and what they want out of their relationship.

8 Bored To Death (2009-2011)

Reddit user Chillfrom93still mentioned “Bored To Death” as an underrated TV series and one Redditor agreed that while not a flawless show, the “mix of genres” creates some amazing, stand out episodes.

It’s hard not to want to watch this show thanks to the all-star cast: Jason Schwartzman as a writer named Jonathan who likes pretending to be a detective and Ted Danson and Zack Galifianakis as his pals. The show doesn’t get as much credit as other HBO comedies.

It’s always fun checking out the Friends cast’s movies and TV shows, and Matt LeBlanc played himself in a fascinating and unique sitcom that doesn’t get as much love as it should.

Reddit user theghostofvegas called Episodes “One of the funniest shows on tv” and called it “scathing comedy from beginning to end.” When Beverly and Sean move to Los Angeles to make an American version of their famous British sitcom, chaos ensues and the journey is hilarious and moving.

6 Better Off Ted (2009-2010)

Reddit user BrokenHeartedOctopus mentioned “Better Off Ted” and Reddit user SparseGhostC2C said “this gem got cancelled way too soon.”

While there are many workplace sitcoms, Better Off Ted stands out. The main character is in charge of research and development at Veridian Dynamics and the show makes fun of these types of companies that are all about profit and nothing else. Ted also talks to the camera often, which is a special part of the show.

5 Warehouse 13 (2009-2014)

There are several great TV series about the paranormal and one Redditor shared their love for Warehouse 13 and wrote, “It was a neat show that dived into a paranormal version of history. A bit corny, but still a fun show.” One Redditor replied that it was “a great ‘classic’ adventure show.”

When Myka and Pete begin working on Warehouse 13, which has some strange and supernatural artifacts, they get caught up in a mystery that is a lot of fun to watch.

4 Reaper (2007-2009)

Reddit user EnigmaCA recommended Reaper and described the premise as Sam finding out when he turns 21 that “his parents sold his soul to the devil before birth and he must now be a bounty hunter for the devil until he dies.” Reddit user NieTyINieJa added, “It was such a good show!”

This CW series only aired for two seasons and offers up a fun look at what daily life would be like if someone really did have to work for the devil.

3 The Good Wife (2009-2016)

Reddit user LaunchpaidMacQ posted that The Good Wife is “the best show that not nearly enough people watch.” Several Reddit users agreed, with one Redditor calling one season “a total roller coaster ride.”

There’s a lot to love about The Good Wife, starting with Alicia’s desire to become a top lawyer learning about her husband’s affair. Alicia meets some brilliant people along the way, from detective Kalinda to Alicia’s complicated love interest Will. Partner Diane is also a stand-out character.

2 Almost Human (2013-2014)

Reddit user okayclairebear recommended Almost Human and called it “a great mix of comedy and drama.”

A well-done science fiction TV show, Almost Human sees police officers working with robots, a great premise that feels fresh. The show focuses on John, who is a cop with a synthetic leg, and Dorian or DRN-0167, a robot. There are also interesting characters named Chromes, such as Valerie, who are genetically engineered flawless humans.

1 Continuum (2012-2015)

Reddit user NeonDragon76 loves Continuum and described it as “think time travel rather than aliens” and added, “Rachel Nichols who plays the part brilliantly and the storyline is great.”

Over four seasons, Kiera goes back in time and becomes part of the Vancouver police so she can stop a group who has taken over. It’s interesting seeing how Kiera copes with this new reality and keeps her secret of the time when she is really from.
