9 Bonnie And Clyde (1967) – Netflix

Arthur Penn’s Bonnie & Clyde is a 1967 movie masterpiece containing one of the most notorious bank robber couples of all time. It’s a movie that has somewhat shaped the action-crime genre and stars Warren Beatty as Clyde and Faye Dunaway as Bonnie.

When Bonnie becomes tired of her dead-end waitress job, she teams up with Clyde, a criminal who’s just been released from prison. They decide to go on a criminal rampage that includes guns, killing, and lots of money. Along the way, they amass a small group of people who have the same intentions. The movie has stood the test of time and has since been remade in 2013.

8 Wild Oats (2016) – Netflix

One of the newer movies similar to Thelma & Louise is Andy Tennant’s 2016 adventure-comedy called Wild Oats. Starring Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange, the movie centers on Eva (MacLaine) and Maddie (Lange), two retired women who’ve decided to take off and reap the benefits of their newfound wealth.

After Eva receives an insurance check for millions of dollars instead of thousands, she takes the opportunity, along with her best friend Maddie, to run from the cops and live a life of luxury. Of course, things don’t go exactly according to plan, making this movie that much better.

7 Pulp Fiction (1994) – HBO Max

One of the best crime-dramas to come out of the 1990s is Pulp Fiction, directed and written by Quentin Tarantino. The story focuses on two hitmen named Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson), who are tasked with finding a stolen suitcase for their mob boss Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames).

Wallace’s business and personal dealings intermingle with the main cast, like Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis), a former boxer, and Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman), Marsellus’ wife. The cast’s situations are bizarre and macabre at times, but the movie is a beloved cult classic. If movie fans like Pulp Fiction, there are several other LA noir movies to check out immediately, like Den of Thieves.

6 The Sugarland Express (1974) – Hulu

Lou Jean Poplin (Goldie Hawn) has a hold over her husband Clovis (William Atherton) and asks him to escape from prison. After he succeeds, they set out to regain custody of their son before he’s put into the foster care system. While their journey goes off without a hitch at first, things take a turn when a patrolman named Maxwell Slide (Michael Sacks) pulls them over.

After taking him hostage, the couple continues their journey to find their son and reunite as a family. The Sugarland Express was Steven Spielberg’s second major debut film, and even back then, he received positive feedback for the action-packed movie.

5 Blue Steel (1990) – Tubi

Blue Steel is a 1990 crime-action drama directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Ron Silver. Curtis plays a rookie cop named Megan Turner, who is caught up in a supermarket incident on her first day, fires at the thief and shoots him dead. With no indication the perp had a weapon to defend himself, Turner is suspended.

But after her initials are found on shell casings in a murder case, she quickly returns to her job and is enthralled in a new case and a dangerous killer who knows her past.

4 Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) – HBO Max

Quentin Tarantino came out with Kill Bill Vol. 1 in 2003, which was the start of an incredibly successful duology. Uma Thurman stars as The Bride, a member of an elite assassination squad, who decides to leave it all behind when she learns she’s pregnant with her lover/boss’ baby.

It’s not until she wakes up four years later when she realizes her baby is missing. From that point on, she sets out to seek revenge on five people who did her dirty years before.

3 Monster (2003) – Amazon Prime Video

Monster is a 2003 biography-crime drama that follows the story of real-life killer Aileen Wuornos. Charlize Theron stars as Wuornos, and thanks to the makeup department, it’s tough even to know it’s her.

Theron also stars alongside Christina Ricci, who plays Selby, Wurnos’ friend and eventual girlfriend. Ricci and Theron embodied their characters well and gave viewers a chilling look at Wuornos’ turbulent life, her determination to change, and what lead her to kill several men eventually.

2 Basic Instinct (1992) – Amazon Prime Video, Hulu

When a former rock star is violently killed during intercourse, SFPD detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) is assigned to the case. Along the way, Curran meets the rock star’s girlfriend, Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone), a crime novelist who is looking like an obvious suspect.
