The show Gossip Girl premiered on The CW in 2007 and ran for six successful seasons until 2012. The show follows a group of mostly elite teenagers as they become adults on the Upper East Side of New York City. The show has everything a good teen drama needs: scandal, love, sex, drugs, and even a little rock and roll.

The series also made stars like Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, and Leighton Meester, household names. All six seasons are available to binge on Netflix, but in-between seasons, here are a couple of movies you’ll love if you can’t get enough of Serena and her friends.

10 Mean Girls

From early on in the series, the hierarchy of Constantine/St. Jude’s is made clear with Blaire being the Queen B. Blair and her friends/followers eat on the steps of The Met at lunch and this symbolizes their status amongst their peers. If you’re invited to eat lunch with these girls, that means you’re in.

The 2004 comedy, Mean Girls has a lot of similarities to the hit teen drama, with lunch table status being one of the things this movie shares with Gossip Girl.

9 The Devil Wears Prada

One of the highlights on Gossip Girl is seeing all the incredible clothing the cast wears in each episode. Every episode boasts beautiful dresses and sharp suits made by some of the top designers in the fashion industry.

Clothing shows status in this series, and it serves the same purpose in the brilliant film, The Devil Wears Prada, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt.

8 Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, has a thing for Audrey Hepburn. One of her favorite movies of all time is Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

If you love Blair, you’ll love this movie as the character takes many cues from one of Hollywood’s most famous leading ladies and her work in this film. The film is set in 1960s New York, so you’ll also love it if one of your favorite parts of Gossip Girl is the big city backdrop in every episode.

7 Easy A

The rumor mill is always churning something new out for the teens at Constantine and St. Jude’s. Gossip Girl is the online, anonymous blog that these teens get their “news” from and as the series progresses, the rumors and reports get even messier. For fans who love a good rumor, Easy A, is a must-see.

Not only does this film tell the story of Olive, a girl fighting against her own school’s rumor mill, but it also stars Penn Badgley, also known as Serena’s sweetheart on Gossip Girl.

6 What To Expect When You’re Expecting

The boys of St. Jude on the series are all heartthrobs. They’re also all very different characters, so everyone who watches Gossip Girl will have a favorite. Nate, played by Chace Crawford is the rich kid with a big heart. He may be best friends with bad boy Chuck Bass, but he’s nothing like him.

If you love Nate, you should watch What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Chace Crawford brings that warmth and his heart of gold to his character, Marco, in this film.

5 Sex And The City

It’s safe to say the creators of Gossip Girl may have been inspired by the HBO hit 90’s series, Sex and the City. The two shows have a lot in common, from the characters’ love and appreciation of high fashion to their relationship mishaps, it’s easy to imagine that Serena and her friends probably loved watching that show at sleepovers.

Luckily for those girls and for fans of the series, after Sex and the City went off the air, the cast reunited for a movie in 2008.

4 Life Partners

One of the best parts of this series is the character Blair Waldorf, played by the incredibly talented, Leighton Meester. Blair has a lot of layers and it’s clear Leighton Meester dove headfirst into every one of them to create this dynamic, fun, and strangely lovable character.

If you’re a fan of Leighton Meester’s work, you should check out the romantic comedy, Life Partners, starring Meester and another wonderful actor, Gillian Jacobs.

3 A Simple Favor

The character Blake plays in this film could have easily been what Serena van der Woodsen would have become if she had never met Dan Humphries. This female-led thriller is about a woman who sets her own husband and friend up in her own missing person’s case.

2 10 Things I Hate About You

There is a lot of playing hard to get between the couples on Gossip Girl. It seems every character on the show has their own “will they or won’t they” storyline with at least one other character and everyone has to fight for the ones they love.

Fans who tuned in every week to see how Dan would once again win over Serena or in hopes that Blair and Chuck would finally get together will love the teen romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You.

1 A Walk To Remember

If you watched Gossip Girl looking forward to the day when all of the characters would put the drama aside and live happily ever after because you love a good love story, then the movie A Walk to Remember, based on the Nicholas Sparks’ bestseller, should be at the very top of your watch list.

This film tells the story of Jamie, played by Mandy Moore, and Landon, played by Shane West, who are two teenagers falling in love despite their differences and all the odds stacked against them.
