This movie is more of a romance drama, but it’s also just fundamentally genuine and pure. Starring Judy Greer and Robert Redford, these two play a widow and a widower who have been neighbors for years. They barely know each other, but finally one reaches out to build a relationship.

This movie is entirely wholesome, and we think it’ll repair your heart from the breaking it endured during Marriage Story. Plus, it’s totally genuine and sweet.

8 The Fundamentals of Caring (2016)

This movie is also one of the most genuine and wholesome comedies Netflix has to offer. Paul Rudd plays a man, who having suffered a family loss, becomes a care-giver for a disabled teenage boy. The two embark on a spontaneous road trip, and their views on life are tested to the limit as they try to find the meaning of hope and friendship.

7 Kodachrome (2017)

This drama is another wholesome and quirky family tale. Starring Ed Harris, Jason Sudeikis, and Elizabeth Olsen, this movie takes place in the final days of an admired photo development system, where a father and son go on a road trip to reach the photo lab before the doors close for good. This movie is wholesome, and tells a genuine story of a family.

6 Private Life (2018)

This is definitely a movie that’s incredibly in tune with Marriage Story. This comedy drama tells the story of an author while she undergoes several fertility therapies. However, the struggle puts her and her husband’s relationship on edge.

5 Like Father (2018)

This comedy drama will definitely pull at your heartstrings, but it’s certainly a wholesome flick about family. Kristen Bell plays Rachel, a workaholic advertising executive who finds her life turned upside-down when she’s left at the altar. So, she ends up on her honeymoon cruise with her estranged father.

4 Irreplaceable You (2018)

3 They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead (2018)

This is probably the most differently flick on the list, but this documentary is for all of you who loved the art career narrative in Marriage Story. This biography tells the story of Orson Welles in the last 15 years of his life, where he places his entire career in his film, The Other Side of the Wind. 

We also suggest checking out that one, to be honest. But still, this movie is totally pure, and it will fulfill all of your Hollywood needs, and show how difficult (yet wonderful) it is to make it in the industry.

2 Always Be My Maybe (2019)

This comedy romance is also more uplifting and hilarious, but it’s definitely a pure and wholesome story to be told. Sasha and Marcus have been expected to be together since day 1, but after they reconnect 15 years later, they’re only still asking: maybe?

This movie is definitely quirky and relatable, but it’s also a different story that still might be all to familiar to someone we know. Tune into this flick for a cute and raw comedy romance, that will definitely fill your heart and soul.

1 The Meyerowitz Stories (2017)

This film is also a Noah Baumbach flick, so we literally can’t have more of a reason to suggest this flick. Starring Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Grace Van Patten, Dustin Hoffman, and many more, this movie tells the story of an estranged family who gathers together in NYC for an event that celebrates their father’s artistic work.
