The Star Wars universe has a lot of forbidden loves, despite the fact that romance is at the heart of the franchise. Whether because they break the Jedi code or perhaps are problematic affections from the past, plenty of these love interests have been kept a secret from everyone else in the galaxy.

Sometimes it doesn’t stay that way forever, with the reasons for hiding the relationship evaporating or the truth finally fighting to be free. Other times though the love dies as it began, completely in secret with no one the wiser. Some of the most famous moments of love and affection in Star Wars were actually kept hidden for a long time.

10 Honorable Mention: Sana Starros And Han Solo

Sana Starros was supposedly an important past lover in Han’s life and claimed to still be married to him, with the early issues of Marvel’s Star Wars comics relaying the narrative. It turned out this was all fraud though.

The relationship was formed only for a heist, so while they may have tried to make a good payday, Sana’s return ultimately caused more harm to Han and Leia’s utterly relatable and important relationship. Sana Starros would go on to become a major character in Star Wars canon and is still happily unmarried to Solo.

9 Lux Bonteri And Ahsoka Tano

Lux Bonteri appeared to be the exact opposite of Ahsoka Tano. From a Separatist family, arrogant and born into wealth, it seemed that there was a great deal of conflict between the duo. As their lives were put in danger, though, they came to learn that they shared a lot of similarities as well.

After the murder of Lux’s mother, Ahsoka and Lux’s close friendship was tested when he tried to join Death Watch. Lux would later find himself on the right path, but Ahsoka would grow jealous of his new affection for someone else. Ultimately, the Jedi Code meant that any love was impossible, and the Padawan tried to keep her emotions hidden.

8 Anakin Skywalker And Padmé Amidala

One of the biggest secrets in the galaxy is the love between Senator Amidala and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. The two shouldn’t have fallen for one another and certainly should not have been married. It’s a love that ultimately drives the duo apart and forges Darth Vader from the ashes of their doomed love.

A few people close to the couple were aware of the relationship toward their closing years, including Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Captain Rex, C-3PO, and R2-D2. However, outside of this core group, the Jedi Council never seemed to be knowledgable of the dangerous attraction that had formed.

7 Quinlan Vos And Asajj Ventress

Quinlan Vos swore his life to the Jedi Code, but he was far more reckless than many of his peers. As the Jedi collapsed and the darkness in the galaxy rose, Vos crossed paths with the former Nightsister, Sith apprentice, and bounty hunter Asajj Ventress in the pages of Dark Disciple.

Unknown to any of Vos’s peers, Vos began to form a connection with Asajj, as the latter taught him the art of the Dark Side of the Force. Everything about the relationship had to be kept a secret until Ventress’s death, which tragically ended their love affair.

6 Norra Wexley And Wedge Antilles

In the pages of the Aftermath trilogy, Norra Wexley was still trying to move on from her husband, Brentin, who had gone missing in battle and appeared to be brainwashed by the former Empire. As she continued to work for the New Republic, she developed feelings for fellow Pilot Wedge Antilles.

The two began to form a really close connection, but Norra kept it a secret from her crew for some time because she didn’t want her son to find out. He eventually did, but after the death of Norra’s husband, things began to start working out for the new couple.

5 Jar Jar Binks And Julia

Jar Jar Binks doesn’t seem like a romantic and there had been no talk of him ever having a romantic connection with anyone. But when a planet’s whole civilization was in danger, its leader, Julia, personally requested for Jar Jar to come with the Jedi Council.

It turns out that the two had actually had a relationship for some time, but they kept it a secret because of its potential political consequences. When Mace Windu found out, he was a little confused by the attraction. Still, the relationship meant that the Republic had a useful ally on its side.

4 Obi-Wan Kenobi And Duchess Satine Kryze

Obi-Wan Kenobi knows full well the consequences of going against the Jedi Code. He tries his best to therefore shut off his emotions, but he almost always fails when it comes to his love for Duchess Satine Kryze. Their affections for one another were kept a secret for years.

Her death was tragic and one of the hardest points in the Clone Wars for Kenobi. As the character continues to be explored in his upcoming Disney+ Obi-Wan show, fans will be interested to see whether Satine appears in a flashback, perhaps revealing more information about how much of their relationship she and Obi-Wan actually had to hide.

3 Rey Skywalker And Ben Solo

Rey Skywalker and Ben Solo had a forbidden love throughout the sequel trilogy. There was hatred there at first, but as Rey continued to see the good in Ben, she came to realize there was also a great deal of affection between them as well. She hid this from everyone, though, as did Ben.

Rey knew her allies might desert her if she was to tell them the truth, while Ben’s reputation as Kylo Ran would perhaps be ruined if he was in love with the enemy. They would ultimately confess their feelings for one another before fate pulled them apart again.

2 Qi’ra And Han Solo

Han Solo didn’t say much about his criminal background and audiences definitely didn’t know about any past relationships. It’s clear that he likely kept any of his other love affairs a secret from Leia as well, especially his brief romance with the Crime Lord Qi’ra.

Despite growing up together, Qi’ra would ultimately betray Han, instead working for some deeply dangerous people and hoping to rise through the ranks of the Criminal Syndicates. Not only did Han hide the relationship to clean up his darker past, but so did Qi’ra to phase out an area of romantic weakness that her enemies could manipulate.

1 Cut Lawquane And Suu Lawquane

Clone Troopers are sworn into their duty. If they defy what they have to do, they are considered traitors. Yet Cut left the Clone Wars behind after being disillusioned with what was happening. He instead started a family with Suu Lawquane, whom he secretly married.

Captain Rex and numerous other Clone Troopers would eventually discover the marriage, but no one gave up their brother. Cut was allowed to live out his life with his family until the Empire showed up, but the Bad Batch managed to smuggle them to safety to continue on with their undercover lifestyle.
