Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is coming up on its final season. The fans are sad to say goodbye. The show’s audience always appreciated the far-out, yet compelling, stories of S.H.I.E.L.D. From a complex plot in which the Kree created Inhumans to time-traveling into the future to save it, Daisy, Coulson, May, Fitz, and Simmons and friends have been through it all.

Allies became foes, and some foes became less antagonistic. But the themes of found family, justice, and identity are what made the show so memorable. Here are some shows to watch next to temporarily fill the hole left behind.

10 Agent Carter

This is an easy comparison, as Agent Peggy Carter is the predecessor for S.H.I.E.L.D. Sadly, Agent Carter only had two seasons, but that just means it’s easier to binge-watch in one sitting.

Not only does this show act as a prequel, but it carries much of what the audience loves about Daisy and the gang. It follows two friends who become more like family as they fight for what’s right. It’s about Peggy knowing her value.

9 Legends of Tomorrow

This Arrowverse spin-off is a lot cheesier, but it still has the elements fans love about S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s a group of misfits that come together to save the world and save each other in the process. Like the S.H.I.E.L.D. crew, they travel through time to make sure nothing goes awry.

Granted, they don’t always succeed the way they should, but they mostly get the job done. This show has a similar energy to the early seasons of S.H.I.E.L.D.

8 The 100

If fans love the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. plot of traveling to broken earth in the future, then they will love this CW sci-fi post-apocalyptic series. A group of teens with criminal pasts are sent from their space habitat, the Ark, back to Earth after it met its end through nuclear devastation.

They are the new society’s guinea pigs to test if the planet is habitable again, as the space station has reached population capacity.

7 Killjoys

This SyFy original series had five seasons filled with fun space romps before it finished in 2019. It follows brothers Johnny and D’avin Jaqobi and their friend Dutch as they grow from intergalactic bounty hunters to rebel leaders saving the galaxy.

Like the S.H.I.E.L.D. gang, the Killjoys don’t play by the rules. They do what they know is right, even if it means going against the establishment. They are the unlikely heroes.

6 The Librarians

The TNT series, a spin-off of the film series, had four years filled with fantasy adventure. For fans of the Marvel show who might also like The Mummy franchise, this is a perfect combination.

Four new recruits to The Library, each with a different skillset, get pulled into a flurry of mysteries and supernatural threats as they try to protect and save the world. They develop strong bonds of friendship along the way.

5 Torchwood

The spin-off of the 2005 revival of Doctor Who has plenty for S.H.I.E.L.D. fans to latch onto. A group of alien hunters creates a secret government organization to investigate all things extraterrestrial and supernatural to protect the Earth from these threats.

The clear parallel to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s objective makes it a prime contender for the next show for fans to watch. While it only had four seasons, it packed a lot in such a short span.

4 Doom Patrol

This web series adaptation of the DC superheroes of the same name follows a group of tragic heroes who gained their powers through trauma.

Like many of the Inhumans from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that received their powers in a similar fashion, the Doom Patrol heroes were left with physical markers that made society shun them. Like the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents have a leader in Phil Coulson, the Doom Patrol looks to The Chief, Niles Caulder.

3 Fringe

Fringe had five seasons of supernatural mystery that disguised itself as a police procedural. An FBI agent teamed up with a scientist who was formerly institutionalized after working on fringe science that delved into the paranormal.

But when cases started showing up that couldn’t be explained logically, Dr. Walter Bishop and his son Peter helped Agent Olivia Dunham find out what’s really going on. The global conspiracy made it even more enticing.

2 Dark Matter

Six people with their memories wiped wake up in the farthest reaches of space with nothing but a ship filled with weapons and a destination.

But where they are being taken is on the verge of becoming a war zone, and they must figure out which side of the fight they stand on. Like the Marvel series, this one explores how one’s history, remembered or not, influences their present-day identity.

1 The Tomorrow People

This show was developed by CW powerhouse writers Julie Plec and Greg Berlanti, among others. S.H.I.E.L.D. fans who miss Lincoln Campbell can get some salve for that wound, as Luke Mitchell plays the leader in The Tomorrow People.

The American remake of this series only lasted one season, but it held a great deal of sci-fi goodness that will tide fans over. The story followed a group of humans evolved into a superior version with special powers.
