Thor and his half-brother Loki have had their fair share of random and bizarre romantic relationships in their comic-book run. While Thor is mostly associated with Jane Foster, the Asgardian god of thunder has also had short-term flings with She-Hulk and Enchantress.

Loki’s love interests aside, he has also fathered the death goddess Hela (unlike her portrayal in Thor: Ragnarok) because of a relationship he shared with the sorceress Angrboda. Considering that Thor and Jane were on a break in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would be interesting to see if Thor would explore more options like his comic-book counterpart.

10 She-Hulk & Thor

In 2020’s Empyre Fallout: Fantastic Four #1, Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) and Thor began dating each other for a short while. When Sue Richards (Invisible Woman) asks Thor if they are an ‘item’, Thor replies ‘Verily’.

Even before Empyre Fallout, Thor had taken out Jennifer on a date in Avengers #11 (2018) that started out as an awkward affair. After all, the location was Savage Island! For Thor, the apt choice of entertainment is watching ‘battle dragons’ fight each other. Bored and unimpressed, Jennifer remarks, ‘I’m starting to see why you’ve been single for centuries’. However, despite all the awkwardness, Thor manages to confess his true feelings, winning her her and exchanging a kiss.

9 Amora & Thor

Amora (The Enchantress) has many a time tried to seduce Thor through her magic with most of her efforts ending up in failure. Once, even Odin had ordered her to win his attention so that Thor can stop his flirtations with Jane Foster. Yet again, Enchantress’s potions were to no avail.

However, in a particular Thor story (Thor vol. 2 #50), he does fall for Amora as he colonizes and rules Earth. Both of them even have a child called Magni but Thor later gets disgruntled with his reality, finding his life to be dishonorable. Hee travels back in time to warn his past self, changing his future relationship in this process.

8 Thor & Jane Foster

While Thor and Jane Foster became regular lovers in several Thor storylines, the latter’s earliest character arc involved a love triangle between her, Thor, and Donald Blake. Thor had taken up the identity of a doctor called Donald Blake but Jane didn’t know this initially. Even though she liked Blake, she ended up falling for Thor.

Later on, as events progress, Thor even brought Jane to Asgard only for Odin to banish her and wipe her memory. Back on Midgard (Earth), she was involved in a brief relationship with Dr. Keith Kincaid. In fact, as it was revealed later, Odin had based Thor’s Donald Blake alter ego on the likeness of Kincaid that might weirdly explain Jane’s fascination for him.

7 Sigyn & Loki

As is expected from Loki, his marriage to Sigyn was a result of deceit. Sigyn was initially engaged to an Asgardian warrior called Theoric. So, when Loki confessed to Sigyn about his attraction towards her, she rejected his advances.

The god of mischief eventually conspired to have Theoric killed and took up his form to marry Sigyn. In the presence of Odin, Loki (disguised as Theoric) and Sigyn’s wedding commenced. Right after that, Loki showed his true colors. Sigyn was shocked and disappointed but still chose to stick with Loki considering that her marriage couldn’t be annulled as per Asgardian law. Unable to change the law himself, Odin approved the marriage and declared Sigyn to be the goddess of fidelity!

6 Sif & Thor

Sif and Thor had been childhood sweethearts but the Asgardian god’s adventures at Earth and interactions with Jane Foster often affected their on-and-off relationship. Odin even tried arranging a marriage between the two but the plan never achieved fruition.

The strangest part however is how Sif saved Jane’s life for her own ulterior motives in Thor #236. Desiring to understand why Thor was attracted to Jane in the first place, Sif merged her life force with a heavily ill Jane to bring her back to life.

5 Lorelei & Loki

Compared to his brother, Loki rarely gets involved in any romantic encounters. In fact, he compelled Amora’s sister Lorelei to use her magic potions to seduce Thor. Considering that Lorelei was already smitten by him, she didn’t need much convincing. This didn’t go down well for Amora who devised a counter-plan to teach a lesson to both Loki and her sister.

While a possessed Thor fell in love with Lorelei, Amora cast a spell on Loki’s scepter forcing him to fancy Lorelei at the same time. When Thor finds both Loki and Lorelei in a sensual embrace, he rages with jealousy and realizes the truth.

4 Jane Foster & Keith Kincaid

As mentioned earlier, a brainwashed Jane started liking Keith Kincaid, a doctor on whose appearance Donald Blake was created. According to Avengers #300, Kincaid also served as a staff doctor to the Avengers. Jane didn’t just date Kincaid but also married and had a son with him (with even Sif and Thor attending the wedding).

Over time, their love fizzled out and Jane opted for a divorce. To date, it’s not clear whether Jane genuinely loved the doctor or whether she liked him just because her subconscious reminded him of Thor/Donald Blake.

3 Thor (Jane Foster) & Captain America

Jane Foster (as Thor) and the new Captain America (Sam Wilson aka Falcon) were involved in a highly polarizing fling once. Unlike her male counterpart, Jane wore a mask to conceal her identity. In the All-New, All-Different Avengers series, both also exchanged a kiss that seemed more like a spontaneous decision at the moment.

In the subsequent issues, Jane and Sam seemed to have a friendly relationship (even though it was hinted to be a sexual one through their texting history). After discovering Jane’s identity, Sam also used to visit her during her chemotherapy sessions, providing some much-needed emotional support. While their story is pretty wholesome, it’s just that this relationship was highly unexpected among fans.

2 Brunnhilde & Thor (Siegmund/Siegfried)

On several occasions, Odin has resorted to brainwashing either Thor or Jane. Once, he banished the former to Earth and gave him the identity of a Germanic warrior called Siegmund. Brunnhilde aka Valkyrie somehow ended up falling for Siegmund even though he had already married a woman named Sieglinde.

Even though it wasn’t his desire, Odin felt that Thor’s death as Siegmund was predestined and ordained to kill him. As a last resort, Brunnhilde tried to protect his pregnant wife. Angered by this, Odin went on to erase Brunnhilde’s memory who later fell in love with Siegmund’s son Siegfried (who was again a mortal avatar of Thor). In Thor #300, Siegfried gets murdered and Brunnhilde too takes her own life in Shakesperean fashion. In the end, Odin brings them back to life in Asgard.

1 Moondragon & Thor

Some of Thor’s story arcs wouldn’t age well considering the lack of consent involved. The biggest example of this is Moondragon taking control of Thor and forcing him to be her personal lover.

In Avengers #219, Moondragon and her father Drax, the Destroyer encountered a planet that was brimming with constant warfare. Eager to bring peace, Moondragon used her telepathic abilities to take control of every inhabitant. After the Avengers and Thor too tried their bit at neutralizing the situation, she snatched Thor’s free will and got intimate with him. This is simply unforgivable.
