Everyone has heard the saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” and in today’s world, it’s never hit home more. While people are trying to cut costs, they’re looking to renew old items and repurpose others that other people might be able to use. For some time now, antiquing has been a popular pastime and some people even take it one step further to make it a full-fledged hobby or a career. Because there’s so much demand for gently-used stuff, various networks have decided to bank on this idea and provide viewers with anything and everything antiques and well, junk.

What’s even better is that streaming services are all the rage now, which makes these types of shows accessible and binge-worthy.  The shows below are available to stream now, and will indulge anyone and everyone’s love of antiques, thrifting, and really old stuff!

10 Barry’d Treasure: 5.9 (HBO Max)

Barry Weiss’s claim to fame was being a regular on Storage Wars, but at the height of his popularity, he decided to leave the show and star in his own spin-off called Barry’d Treasure. It only made it for eight episodes which amounts to one season, but nonetheless, it was a decently good show featuring Barry’s antics while intermixing antique finds as well.

In the show, Barry travels around the United States striking deals with various sidekicks each week. A lot of fans were sad to see Barry leave Storage Wars, but they can continue the laughs with Barry’d Treasure and yet another spin-off called Storage Wars: Barry Strikes Back.

9 Auction Hunters: 5.9 (Pluto TV)

In 2010, Spike TV introduced Auction Hunters, a show featuring Allen Haff and Ton Jones, two guys who travel across America bidding on unclaimed storage units. The risk, of course, is that they don’t necessarily know what’s in the storage units, but spend the big bucks anyways in hopes of hidden treasure.

Auction Hunters lasted for a whopping 116 episodes and five seasons total, and while the jury is still out on whether to call it a reality show or an actual storage unit picking television show, viewers can answer that for themselves.

8 Storage Wars: 6.3 (Hulu)

Storage Wars premiered in 2010 and since then, it has accumulated 286 episodes and 12 seasons as of 2019. The premise of the show is that four professional buyers and their team travel from storage unit to storage unit in search of the ultimate hidden treasure. The seasoned vets on Storage Wars have found crazy items ranging from a creepy old coffin to the most valuable comic book collection in the world; sometimes without even breaking the bank.

This show is entertaining, interesting, and when viewers dive into the seasons more, they get to know the teams and the dynamics between one another. There have been several spin-offs of Storage Wars, but without a doubt, the original is the most popular

7 American Restoration: 6.6 (Amazon Prime Video)

2010 must have been a popular year in terms of restoration shows because yet another television show came out called American Restoration. This show follows the best restoration shops in the United States, while the cast restores pieces from American history to create incredible results ranging from vintage items such as cars, antiques, and even one-of-a-kind bikes.

Starring Rick Dale and Tyler Dale, this show has seven seasons, with the most recent ending in 2016.

6 American Pickers: 7.0 (Hulu)

Perhaps the most popular antiquing show running on streaming services is American Pickers. A lot of the popularity can be owed to Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, the likable pickers who travel the country in search of the next antique gold mine. They are backed by Danielle Colby-Cushman, another employee who usually stays behind to take calls and schedule their pickings.

Frank and Mike don’t just travel to antique stores or storage containers though, they will literally go anywhere in the country to find unknown jewels that Joe Schmo has kept in his tool shed for years. What is even more unique about this show is that they take the time to listen to the history behind items they may or may not buy, while getting to know the owners, too. American Pickers might have a few rules they like to follow, but for the most part, the show seems to run organically, with a few comedic moments along the way.

5 Antiques Roadshow: 7.2 (YouTube TV)

After 25 seasons and over 385 episodes, it’s safe to say Antiques Roadshow is a hit. This is definitely the longest-running show about antiques because of its authenticity and because it stays true to the subject. Viewers can expect to see collectors turning trash into treasure, thanks to their keen eye and appraisal skills.

The show is hosted by Mark L. Walberg, (not to be confused with the actor,) and throughout the show and hundreds of seasons, the stories behind each piece never run dry, and remain incredibly interesting.

4 Pawn Stars: 7.2 (Netflix)

A man named Rick Harrison and his family own and run a pawn shop named Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in the bright and shiny city of Las Vegas, Nevada. They’re located right on the strip, which gives them a huge advantage when buying, selling, and appraising items of historical value.

Three generations of the Harrison Family try to work together as they run a successful business while trying to scoop up fascinating items, with unforgettable cast members. Pawn Stars is a hilarious and binge-worthy show that has had the strangest and most expensive items come through their door.

2 Oddities: 8.0 (Amazon Prime Video)

For the fans of the morbid and weird, Oddities is just the show. Since 2010, a camera has been following around the owners of New York City’s Obscura Antiques & Oddities. This isn’t a plain old antique shop, it houses some of the most eccentric and oddly unique finds on the east coast.

Evan and Mike do what they love while dealing with morbid finds and even weirder clients trying to make a buck. They also travel around to find unique pieces to meet their client’s demands, while trying to follow their intuition of what is valuable and what isn’t.

1 The Repair Shop: 8.7 (Netflix)

The Repair Shop is the newest antique-esque show on Netflix, and it’s definitely one of the best. Starting in 2017, the show has released six seasons showing off some of Britain’s most skilled restoration experts. The team repairs family heirlooms that are brought to their capable hands.

There isn’t an item too big or too small for the team, and not only do viewers get to see really rare items being refinished, but they get to look behind the curtains and experience the personal items behind the items as well.
