There aren’t too many TV shows that have the star power that Netflix’s The Ranch has. The talents of Sam Elliott, Ashton Kutcher, and Danny Masterson are on full display in this comedy series about a dysfunctional Colorado farming family living in a small town and trying their best to overcome nature and themselves.

For those that are familiar to the show’s premise, it isn’t surprising that such a well-known cast would want to be part of a series that has the potential to draw in big ratings. For fans that haven’t missed an episode here are a few tidbits about the main characters that most fans are not aware of.

10 Beau Bennett Is Republican

It used to be that the average viewer didn’t know which political party the actor or actress in their favorite TV shows voted for nor did they know who the characters in that particular TV show would vote for in a national election. However, those days are long gone with some sort of political message or parody taking place in almost every sitcom in some form or fashion.

As far as The Ranch goes, it isn’t shocking to learn that Beau Bennett with his disgust of Hollywood values is a registered republican.

9 Rooster’s Hat

Rooster Bennett played by Danny Masterson in The Ranch seemed to do his research into his costar Sam Elliott, who plays his TV dad on the show. Back in 1985 in the movie Mask, Sam Elliott wore a shirt that read “mustache rides”. A clear reference to a sexual practice.

On one episode of The Ranch, Rooster Bennett makes a clear reference to Elliott’s 1985 character when he states he has a hat that reads “free mustache rides”. While the reference might have flown over most viewers heads, hardcore Sam Elliott fans caught it.

8 Colt’s AFL Team Socks

Arena Football League never quite caught on compared to its main competitor the National Football League who seem to have a monopoly over the sport. However, that doesn’t mean there are not a few die-hard fans that still support the lesser-known competitor.

One of those is Ashton Kutcher, whose character Colt in The Ranch always wears Spokane Shock socks in each of the episodes. Which, at least, character-wise, makes the whole thing puzzling why someone from Colorado would be such a Spokane Shock fan. Though, fans of the show have to respect his effort to promote them.

7 Beau Bennett Drinks Coors Beer

For a show that is obsessed with country music to the point of naming all their episodes after a song, it isn’t shocking that The Ranch would have a noticeable inclination to add beer products into each episode. After all, there isn’t a country music video that doesn’t promote it at every corner.

The patriarch of the sitcom, Beau Bennett is a Coor’s man and can be seen in several episodes drinking his favorite beer. What is ironic about this is that Sam Elliott the actor who plays Beau Bennett in the show is the voice of Coors Beer.

6 Colt Reveals His Age

Certain TV shows can last for a decade. Yet, for some reason, the cast of the show never admits that they have aged a day. Of course, watching older episodes gives their real age away every time. So when Colt revealed his age it was a little hard to believe his age fits how he looks.

In the very first episode of the season, Colt states that he was seventeen in 1999, which would make him thirty-five when the episode aired. The actor who plays Colt, Ashton Kutcher was actually twenty-one in 1999.

5 Beau Bennett Wrote Real Address

Given that most TV sitcoms are actually performed on a set at a Hollywood studio without audiences even being present, makes The Ranch somewhat unique with it being performed in front of a live audience. Though, to be fair, it is still created in a studio in California.

That said, fans have to give the creators credit for trying to be as real as it gets, given its filming location, when in a scene where Beau Bennett was filling out a loan application for his ranch, he writes the address 3712 Country Road 145 in Colorado.

4 Rooster’s Tobacco Choice

It just wouldn’t be a TV show about living out in the country on a ranch without proper product placement for tobacco and beer products. Luckily, for fans, The Ranch doesn’t disappoint as they keep a steady dose of what Hollywood elites believe the average farm-workers in Colorado and abroad buy with their hard-earned money.

On the show, Rooster uses Kodiak Wintergreen smokeless tobacco to get his nicotine kick, while his brother Colt prefers old fashioned Skoal with preferences of peach and straight flavors to help him get through his day.

3 Beau Doesn’t Dip But Keeps A Can In His Pocket

Now that fans know what tobacco products that the Bennett sons use daily. That only leaves fans to wonder Beau Bennett’s tobacco preference. Unfortunately, this is one of the most prevailing mysteries on the show that never really was explained or talked about in any of the episodes.

In some scenes, Beau can be seen with what looks to be a tobacco can in his front left pocket, yet he is never shown using in any specific moment on the show. Though in some scenes, he appears to have chew in his mouth, but this is unconfirmed.

2 Luke Bennett Spent Time In The Service

After Danny Masterson, the actor who plays Rooster Bennett on the show was accused of sexual misconduct, he was fired from the show and his character was killed off much to the dismay and heartbreak of many fans.

To fill the gap, Luke Bennett a minor character and cousin of the Bennett family was meant to ease the tension of losing Rooster. Not a whole lot is known about Luke other than he served in the armed forces as a U.S. Army Corporal and his dad is Beau Bennett’s brother.

Usually, the more successful sitcoms are the ones that have a disdain for the Hollywood crowd and everything they stand for. It really isn’t a left vs right reason for this vitriol towards Hollywood, instead, it has more to do with the Hollywood elites appearing out of touch with modern Americans and their values.

In The Ranch, Beau shows his disgust with Hollywood and even California in more than a few episodes. The ironic thing is, is that the actor who plays Beau, Sam Elliott was born and raised in California.
