Marvel Comics has set up Hulk as one of the characters in its comic book line that will never die. There are even stories that showed the entire planet suffering a catastrophic event where almost everyone died, but Hulk was still there, at one time the last living human left on Earth. However, even with his immortality, Hulk has died in comic book stories.

Most of the time, Hulk dies and then there is a way he returns from the grave, and Marvel Comics presented the perfect explanation for that with his Green Door in the Below Place. However, there are also Elseworlds stories where he stayed dead, and moments where Hulk died and something else returned to take his place.

10 Onslaught – The Death Of The Marvel Universe

In the 1990s, Marvel Comics decided it was time to shake things up and set up a moment where everything in the world changed. This started in the pages of X-Men where an evil entity arose called Onslaught, a mix of Professor X and Magneto, and this being almost destroyed the world.

The Avengers and Fantastic Four died to stop him. During that ultimate sacrifice, Hulk also died. Jean Grey shut down Bruce Banner’s brain, turning Hulk into a savage. The two ended up separated, and Hulk ended up in an irradiated cocoon, one that killed Hulk completely, which led to a new Hulk being horn.

9 Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe – Frank Shoots Hulk

Marvel released a fun story titled Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe, where his origin changed drastically. Instead of Frank Castle’s wife and children dying at the hands of mobsters, sending him into a path of vengeance against criminals, they died during a superhero battle.

After his family died, Punisher immediately killed Cyclops. He then started killing every superhero, ending with himself. For Hulk, Frank put a tracer on him and waited for him to turn back into Bruce Banner. Punisher then killed Banner, and in this case, Hulk never saved him.
