Tammy Slaton has had her share of drama on 1000-Lb. Sisters and one major source of conflict for the reality star is her relationship history. The objective of 1000-Lb. Sisters is to motivate Amy Slaton and her sister Tammy to lose enough weight to get bariatric surgery, but boy problems have gotten in the middle of Tammy and her goal. From hampering Tammy’s weight loss journey to cheating on his wife, here’s why Amy doesn’t trust her sister’s ex-boyfriend, Jerry Sykes.

Although Amy and Tammy have recently acquired their own show, the sisters’ fame isn’t sudden. The pair of reality stars began their career in entertainment a decade ago. In January 2011, Amy launched her YouTube channel. Amy’s videos were mostly just vlogs that gave viewers an inside look at her life with Tammy, but her content became massively popular. Currently, Amy’s channel has garnered over 48 million views. It was actually Amy’s YouTube channel that got TLC’s attention and started 1000-Lb. Sisters, which was recently renewed for season 3. Along with tens of millions of views, Amy amassed a loyal fanbase. Some of these fans, however, proved to be more trouble than they were worth, specifically Tammy’s ex-boyfriend Jerry.

Before Jerry pursued a relationship with Tammy, he was sending Amy gifts in the mail. On her YouTube channel, Tammy discussed her and her sister’s pasts with Jerry. Tammy and Amy’s fans knew about Jerry before he made his reality TV debut because Tammy spoke about him online. Tammy explained Jerry had mailed Amy gifts before getting to know Tammy. Jerry also told Tammy he had had feelings for Amy, but Tammy didn’t take her then-boyfriend’s admission too seriously. Fans started to criticize reality television star Tammy Slaton’s relationship with Jerry when she posted a picture with him on Twitter in February 2020. Tammy captioned the pair of photos, “Bae for life,” but Tammy’s followers weren’t so taken with Jerry. Many of the star’s followers noted Jerry had a wife and had been in relationships with other reality TV personalities.

In addition to Tammy’s Twitter followers denouncing her relationship with Jerry, Tammy’s sister Amy also voiced her opposition to Jerry. On 1000-Lb. Sisters, Amy said she didn’t trust Jerry because Tammy “needs somebody that’s gonna motivate her in this weight loss, not just want her to stay the way she is.” Amy’s judgment is based on Jerry bringing Tammy a 32-ounce milkshake during the sisters’ intense weight loss journeys. Fortunately for 33-year-old television personality Amy Slaton, Jerry wasn’t in the picture for long. Jerry made the decision to break up with Tammy because he felt guilty about cheating on his wife, Kia Russell-Rucker Sykes. According to TMZ, Kia “found out about Jerry’s relationship with Tammy through TV” on 1000-Lb. Sisters season 1 in 2020. Currently, Tammy is single, as she is no longer dating TikTok user thebbwking.

Tammy’s journey to losing weight has been a rocky one, especially with men getting in her way. From bringing her milkshakes to cheating on his wife, Amy and 1000-Lb. Sisters fans might have been justified in their suspicion of Jerry’s reasons for dating Tammy. While Tammy might not have a boyfriend at the moment, single life seems like the best way for the 1000-Lb. Sisters star to achieve her dreams.
