Tammy Slaton’s faced several health complications as a result of her weight in 1000-lb Sisters and fans can’t understand why the reality star hasn’t retired her vaping habit. Tammy has endured many close-calls at the hospital from getting sick with pneumonia to suffering from carbon dioxide poisoning, but none of the Slaton sister’s run-ins with death have steered Tammy away from vaping. From self controls issues to coping mechanisms, here’s why 1000-lb Sisters fans think Tammy refuses to give up vaping.

Before viewers even met Tammy, the entertainer had already overcome a variety of severe health complications. Tammy shared that on top of her mental illness, she had faced physical strife as a result of her food addiction. Tammy almost died when a blood clot formed in her lungs, and fellow 1000-lb Sisters star, Amy Slaton, was convinced Tammy was done for when the television personality was in the hospital with a bad case of pneumonia. Amy was so discouraged by her sister’s condition that she prematurely set up a GoFundMe for Tammy’s funeral. Viewers feared the worst when Tammy contracted COVID-19 in season 2, but the reality star managed to recover – for the most part.

Although Tammy was able to bounce back from her battle with the coronavirus, the 1000-lb Sisters star had to rely on an oxygen tube to help her breathe. Recently, Tammy shared that she had to return to the hospital because she got sick with oxygen poisoning. Now, Tammy’s oxygen tube has been replaced with a tracheostomy tube, which indicates the reality star’s breathing ability has critically diminished. Initially, 1000-lb Sisters fans argued that Tammy needs to lose weight to turn her life around because it’s increasingly unlikely that the reality star will survive her next trip to the emergency room. While Tammy must prioritize her weight loss goals, viewers also noted the entertainer’s harmful vaping habit. One Reddit user found a picture of Tammy holding a vape in 1000-lb Sisters season 3 and asked, “Why is she vaping? Is she trying to kill herself?”

Other fans agreed that Tammy’s unwillingness to give up her vape while relying on an oxygen tube demonstrates the Slaton sister’s lack of enthusiasm for saving her life. Doctors have warned Tammy that her years are numbered as long as she doesn’t commit to a diet and exercise routine, but the entertainer hasn’t conveyed any desire to lose weight. One commenter asserted, “She doesn’t care.” This viewer also believes Tammy can’t be told what to do, determining, “She does what she wants… and gives not one furry rat butt about… her own body.” While plenty of her followers think Tammy’s vaping is another sign that the star has thrown in the towel on her health, others think she’s vaping to cope with her stressful situation. A fan hypothesized, “[Tammy] MUST have some sort oral fixation thing where she can’t self soothe unless there’s SOMETHING in her mouth that’s killing her.”

Tammy’s weight continues to be the greatest threat to the 1000-lb Sisters star’s wellbeing, but her vaping habit is the cherry on top of Tammy’s fitness misfortune. From not caring about her health to needing a stress reliever, fans are discouraged by Tammy’s relentless smoking reliance. Hopefully, Tammy’s trach will finally persuade the 1000-lb Sisters star to give up the toxic habit.
