These fan theories about Gravity Falls are so crazy they may actually be true. Created by Alex Hirsch, Gravity Falls launched on Disney Channel in 2012 and quickly became a fan-favorite piece of programming. The animated series followed the adventure of Dipper Pines and his twin sister Mabel when they visit the mysterious town of Gravity Falls to stay with their great-uncle Stan. The summer-set series is filled with adventure and mysteries as Dipper and Mabel explore the secrets found within Journal 3.

Even though Gravity Falls found its fanbase, the show did not last long. The second season of the series was moved to Disney XD and was announced to be the final one already. This decision was made by Hirsch, as he wanted to tell a very specific story for Dipper and Mabel, while other materials have continued their stories. The short run has only left fans of Gravity Falls with the option to rewatch the episodes over and over, and has led to some incredible theories formulating as a result.

The show previously proved plenty of theories right or wrong over the course of 40 episodes, such as who was the author of Journal 3, but fans have only continued to develop theories revolving around the characters and this world. One of the theories that could come to pass is directly tied to Gravity Falls‘ finale and the fate of the villainous triangle-shaped demon Bill Cipher. The series finale showed how Stan and his twin brother appeared to have defeated Cipher thanks to their elaborate plan, but his final words have been used for the basis of a theory that he will return. Fans have discovered that if the audio is played backwards, Cipher says, “I invoke the ancient power that I may return,” which could tease that he’ll come back if the show ever does as well.

This is just one of many theories discussed in the video, though, and it will be up for future Gravity Falls content to show whether or not these theories hold any weight. It currently is unclear if Hirsch has any plans to resurrect the beloved show or not. This could leave these theories unconfirmed forever, unless the creator decides to comment on the validity of them in the future. Until then though, it is possible that every single one of these Gravity Falls theories could be true.
