Some fans say The 40-Year-Old Virgin is the funniest movie from the year it was released in the mid-2000s. As audiences learn the plight of Andy Stitzer, they meet his coworkers and friends. His pals like David and Cal help Andy out of his shell. In the process, they put their personalities on display.

Some characters showcase likable personalities thanks to their positive attitudes and kind behavior. Others are less affable and present an unpleasant demeanor. As the characters react to conflict, their likability is made clear to viewers.

Nicky

Leslie Mann plays Nicky. She is one of the less developed characters in The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Andy meets Nicky in some of his first attempts at dating women. Things don’t go very smoothly when the two get together.

Cal

Seth Rogen’s Cal is Andy’s coworker at Smart Tech. Some fans say The 40-Year-Old Virgin is one of Seth Rogen’s best movies. Cal is showcased most often when Andy works at Smart Tech and when he and the group hit the town trying to get Andy to meet girls.

Cal is rude. He tells Andy he used to think he was a serial killer. He laughs at Andy when it is revealed he is a virgin. He shames Andy for his hobby of collecting action figures and movie memorabilia.

David

He also surprises Andy and pressures him into covering for him. However, he is kind to Andy and goes out of his way to try and get him dates. He is honest, revealing his selfish behavior is often simply the product of his insecurity.

Beth

Elizabeth Banks plays Beth in The 40-Year-Old Virgin in one of her highest-rated roles. She is one of the least developed characters in the story but presents her likability in her moments on screen. Andy meets her at a book store she’s working at, and again at a club in the latter half of the movie.
