No matter the station, there is always at least one hit show than can hold a single network down on its own. While a stand-alone show can provide either great laughs, intense moments, or some mind provoking mystery, there is nothing like a good crossover to get the creative juices flowing.

No one has understood that better than the CW Network with their superhero Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. ABC has been great at merging Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 as well. But what about some of the shows that viewers would love to see a crossover for? While some may work, others may not be as successful.

Disclaimer: As streaming shows have been recognized for Primetime Emmy Awards, they will also be considered.

10 Wouldn’t: Chicago PD & Blue Bloods

The reason these two would not work is simple: Frank Reagan would not be able to control Hank Voight and the Intelligence Unit. Pairing two cop shows together on a crossover has been successful in the past with shows like Chicago PD and Law & Order: SVU, but they had similar storylines.

Blue Bloods‘ Danny and Jamie are good cops and have been known to color outside the lines a bit; however, what happens in Chicago is on another level. There is no way these two shows can do a crossover without Blue Bloods bending the rules.

9 Would: Black-ish & The Connors

What would happen if a black family with means would cross paths with a white family fighting the struggle? The Connors, even before Roasanne was taken off the show, gave America a view into what it’s like to see a white family living for the moment. While The Connors does not often tackle racial issues in its storylines, they are relatable to a wider audience.

Black-ish‘s Dre Johnson begins to wonder if he’s not black enough, as living in a great neighborhood has him second-guessing himself. If the shows were to crossover, the social and comedic dynamic would be must-see TV.

8 Wouldn’t: Grey’s Anatomy & Chicago Med

These are two of the best hospital shows on Primetime TV. Nevermind the difference between the networks, the crossover should just focus on the cast. Grey’s Anatomy has had almost two decades to get things right, while Chicago Med is still learning the ropes. What makes these two shows so successful are their storylines.

Grey’s Anatomy hits right the heart with emotional scenes that put its audience in the shoes of the doctors or the beds of the patients. Chicago Med is just learning that trait. Pairing the two cast together would be catastrophic, as the cast of Chicago Med works well as a unit but not one member can deal with the cluster of personalities on Grey’s Anatomy.

7 Would: Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD & Loki

Although Loki has not premiered yet, paring that with Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD would be a smart move by Disney just for the revenge factor alone. In the first Avengers movie, it was Loki who killed Phil Coulson, a moment that helped unite Marvel’s heroes.

While Coulson has been through a lot as part of S.H.I.E.L.D., it would be interesting to see Loki go up against the team he helped put together. It would also be cool to see Loki go up against the power of Daisy.

6 Wouldn’t: Riverdale & All American

Here are two shows with high school students as the central cast with football throw-in. While All American is all about football, Riverdale barely shows any; however, Archie still plays from time to time. So, does this mean the two shows can merge? Probably not.

After all, Riverdale has been steadily incorporating more and more supernatural elements and the teenagers are just too grown; conversely, All American deals with gang-ridden neighborhoods and social issues. Pairing these two shows together would do nothing but damage the brand of both even though they are on the same CW Network.

5 Would: Charmed & Legacies

Witches and Vampires, what’s not to love? A Charmed and Legacies crossover would work just for the sheer excitement of it all. It can be done by either pairing them together on the same team or forcing them to go head-to-head. Either way, viewers should love the interaction.

With both shows still in their early stages, merging them for an episode could give audiences a chance to see two well-scripted shows.

4 Wouldn’t: The Rookie & S.W.A.T.

Cop shows are still going strong on Primetime TV; for example, The Rookie just wrapped up its second season while S.W.A.T is in its third. Pairing these two Los Angeles-based shows together may seem like a great idea on paper, but on screen, it just wouldn’t work.

S.W.A.T is more drama and action-packed while The Rookie focuses more on comedy, even if it does have a few action scenes. The chemistry would be off between the characters and not even a great script could fix that.

3 Would: Queen of the South & The Chi

Queen of the South‘s Teresa Mendoza had no choice but to get involved in the drug business. She has set up operations in Mexico, Texas, New Orleans, Miami, and now possibly New York in season 5. The Chi is centered around one location but putting Teresa in place to take over a city like Chicago could be a smart move.

One episode per season, this could make for an interesting crossover. While The Chi is not as drug-related as a show like The Wire, it would be cool to see Queen of the South interact with the gritty streets of Chicago.

2 Wouldn’t: Money Heist & Seal Team

Money Heist is the hit show on Netflix while Seal Team is still finding its way on CBS. However, there’s a huge reason why pairing these two shows for a crossover would be not successful. Money Heist centers around a group of bank robbers while Seal Team focuses on an elite group of soldiers trained to stop terrorists.

Money Heist is not viewed as a terrorist show. While there is occasionally some action, it’s mostly a strategic storyline; on the other hand, the Seals tend to take a shoot first and ask questions later mentality. On paper, this crossover might seem intense but mixing a non-violent cast with a violet cast is unlikely to work. That said, considering a Bones and Sleepy Hollow crossover exists, anything is technically possible.

1 Would: The Blacklist & Better Call Saul

Imagine Raymond Reddington, a known criminal who has not had the best of luck when it comes to lawyers on The Blacklist, hooking up with Saul. With his multiple business endeavors coupled with his side hustle as one of American’s Most Wanted, Reddington is always in the need of a lawyer, even if he may be a bit shady.

Merging both of these beloved shows would be a huge win for everyone. Saul has his own way of dealing with the underworld and to see him join forces with Reddington while dodging the FBI would make for a great crossover episode.
