90 Day Fiancé: All Allegations That Ella Has An ‘Asian Fetish’ Explained

Ella Johnson is new to 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, but she is already being accused of having an “Asian fetish.” TLC viewers were quick to jump on the new reality star after she was caught on camera saying she hit the jackpot with her new boyfriend, Johnny. While the Idaho native tried to clap back, viewers weren’t having it and continued to shut her down.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5 has just gotten underway. Ella and Johnny have been trying for some time to meet face to face, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two have not had a chance to see each other. Johnny is a single father, and Ella is hardly about to apologize for her interests. Viewers quickly learned that Johnny is hoping his healthy cooking helps Ella lose weight so they can have more children together.

Viewers of Before the 90 Days have had their guard up with Ella for some time. Before season 5 even started, some noticed a few red flags. In a trailer promoted by TLC, Ella talked about meeting Johnny on a site called “Asian Men And White Women” while appearing to be in a Samurai outfit and swinging a Katana around in her backyard. Ella explained that she is into everything involving Asian culture. Irate viewers were quick to point out that Ella talked as if being Asian is just one culture, totally ignoring that Asia has a vast mix of cultures and identities. Check out TLC’s post below:

TLC viewers couldn’t understand how Ella didn’t notice her obsession was a bit odd and offensive. At one point, in hopes of trying to combat the negativity, Ella posted a follower’s comment where they accused her of being racist. The user wrote, “Fetishizing an entire race of people and generalizing a WHOLE continent? Literally repulsive. Stop deleting comments rightfully calling you out on your racism and take some responsibility for yourself.” Instead of tackling the issue head-on, Ella’s retort only made the public dislike her more. The issue for most followers is the lack of accountability.

On the other hand, many argued in Ella’s favor. Some 90 Day Fiancé viewers still feel that Ella is being judged unfairly since most everyone would agree that they have a type of person they are and aren’t attracted to. It might not have helped that Ella discussed her entire collection of toys with the cameras and her virtual intimate life with Johnny. There is no doubt viewers will now be keeping a watchful eye on Ella and Johnny, who will face multiple ups and downs as they try to figure out how to have the perfect relationship.
