90 Day Fiancé: Ash Naeck Shares How Fans Helped Him Get Diagnosed After Seeing Bulging Eyes

Ash Naeck and Avery Warner had a pretty tumultuous relationship on the last season of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Amongst the multiple arguments that viewers witnessed on the show, there was an eye-opening revelation that proved to be shocking for fans and Ash himself.

Ash, a relationship therapist from Melbourne, met Avery Warner (a cannabis chef) virtually when he commented on the Seattle-based single mom’s Instagram picture. Ash, who also has a child of his own from a previous marriage, wished to move to America to be with his lady love. However, before things could move further ahead, Avery traveled Down Under to introduce Avery to his son and ex-wife. This was an important first step. Ash and Avery are a 90 Day Fiancé couple who got into explosive fights. They clashed over Ash’s job as a relationship coach, his proximity to female clients, and his issues with honesty. Avery flew back to America and the couple decided to call it quits. However, alongside all the relationship drama, his eyes were a huge talking point for 90 Day Fiancé viewers. Many noticed that his eyes were abnormally large, and some viewers bullied Ash Naeck for that reason.

In the latest episode of B90 Strikes Back! Ash revealed that he was diagnosed with Graves’ disease after some well-wishing TLC fans pointed out the symptoms to him. Relentless hatred and harsh comments kept following Ash on the Internet, based on his eyes that seemed to bulge out. Although the 90 Day Fiancé star initially stayed silent, in March, Ash Naeck finally revealed on his Instagram profile that he was fighting a battle with Hyperthyroidism. He has been living with this condition since he was 21. The condition accelerates the body’s metabolic rate and also causes weight loss and rapid or irregular heartbeat. The bulging eyes are also known as proptosis and they are a symptom of Graves’ disease, an autoimmune disorder where the thyroid gland overproduces hormones, leading to Hyperthyroidism.

On his recent B90 Strikes Back! appearance, the Australian nutrition coach disclosed that it wasn’t until he saw himself on saw himself on Before the 90 Days that he took notice of his eye condition. He added that it was a “shock” for him and he shared his feelings with millions of fans watching him on screen. Many of them had their own opinions. A few of them happened to be doctors. These docs suggested that he should do some tests. He followed their advice and discovered that he has Graves’ disease, which he has been trying his best to manage.“It’s much better now and it’s been getting better as we go. I’ve been controlling it with food and medication,” Naeck said, while also confessing that 90 Day Fiancé was, in fact, a blessing for him, as it helped him to get a proper diagnosis.

Avery, who was also present on B90 Strikes Back! disclosed that she did notice the bulging eyes, but didn’t really think too much about Ash’s eyes during their time together. Like Ash, she didn’t connect the dots until people started commenting on his appearance. She did some research and figured that it was indeed a thyroid issue.
