Former 90 Day Fiancé star Asuelu Pulaa revealed the outrageous amount of money he has sent to his mother in Samoa. Most fans are already aware of Asuelu’s story, and it is a known fact that his Samoan family has always asked him for money. Asuelu’s mother and sister have pressured him to send money whenever he was featured on the show with his wife, Kalani Faagata. The first such incident happened when Asuelu and Kalani visited his mother and gave her $100. His mother and sister seemed annoyed by that and demanded $1,000 instead. Since Asuelu has a family of four, it was hard for him to give away such a huge amount to his family.

This custom of sending money may sound weird to many 90 Day Fiancé fans, but it is an old Samoan tradition. It is shocking to see how Asuelu’s family feels entitled to his money, but it is a part of their culture. During the show, it was implied that younger men have to work and provide for the elderly in the family. Once they grow old and become the chief, their kids will earn for them and so on. But Kalani doesn’t let her husband send money, even if he is obliged to do so. The mother of Oliver and Kennedy said that her own family already struggles financially, so how could she be comfortable sending thousands of dollars to her extended family members?

However, whether Kalani likes it or not, Asuelu exposed the amount of money he gave his mother over the years. E! News reported that the 90 Day Fiancé star sent money to his family even before his relationship with Kalani started. He sent about $600 to $700 a month. Over the years, that amount would add up to more than $15,000. Kalani stated that Asuelu cleaned out his whole bank account and gave the money to his mother before arriving in the United States.

Kalani also seemed irritated by the fact that the money isn’t just going to the family, but it is also for “bingo money, church fundraisers, church events.” Previously, the Utah resident raised a concern that her husband tried to purchase his family’s affection by giving them money. During the show, Asuelu actually said, “I really want to contribute this money to make my relationship with my family tight like yours.”

It seems like Asuelu is right to honor his culture. However, he should not do it at the expense of his own two boys, who will soon be going to school. Besides, life in America is very different from life in Samoa, so maybe Asuelu should set a budget before sending the cash to his family. Since the 25-year-old TV star already knows that his mother has a bingo addiction, he should act intelligently and check where his money actually gets spent. 90 Day Fiancé alum Asuelu’s culture needs him to support his mother and not encourage her unhealthy obsessions.
