The 90 Day Fiancé franchise has aired its fair share of marriages and divorces alike. While international romance is at the heart of the hit TLC franchise, many issues have contributed to the public downfall of relationships. Oftentimes, viewers are served a front-row seat to the end of marriages as cast members air their dirty laundry and slam their former partners on both franchise shows and social media. However, a number of 90 Day Fiancé couples have broken up without the theatrics and public spectacle.

Oftentimes, viewers become involved in franchise relationships, especially since some couples appear across multiple shows. Franchise fans feel they are owed an explanation when relationships end and don’t always respect the privacy of cast members. On the other end of the spectrum are cast members who overshare their personal lives despite viewers slamming them for their lack of decorum. This leads to divorces and breakups being extremely messy, which can have a bad effect when children are involved.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The past seven years of franchise content have led to many messy divorces. Tiffany Franco Smith makes sure to air all of her dirty laundry when it comes to her ongoing separation from Ronald Smith. Meanwhile, Larissa Lima and Colt Johnson took many years to mend their rift after their explosive separation that saw Larissa receiving multiple domestic violence arrests. Likewise, Paul and Karine Staehle continue to air their deeply unhealthy relationship and put each other on blast every time they split up. That makes it more impressive that some franchise couples are able to be civil in their separations.

Nicole Nafziger & Azan Tefou

Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou are a franchise couple known for their dramatic behavior. Nicole was hysterical when she visited her Moroccan partner and was asked not to engage in PDA. She made her feelings known at all times, while Azan wasn’t shy about admitting he was only about “55%” attracted to Nicole and wanted her to lose weight. Nicole and Azan showed a lot of their relationship, which made many viewers think their imminent breakup would be loud and public. However, Nicole and Azan split off-camera and surprisingly appeared civil when they confirmed the news. Though Nicole is called out for sharing clickbait articles about cast members, she refrained from airing her own dirty laundry.

Chelsea Macek &  Yamir Castillo

Chelsea Macek and Yamir Castillo are another 90 Day Fiancé former couple who didn’t make their separation a spectacle. The season 2 couple met when American Chelsea was volunteering in Yamir’s native Nicaragua. The couple aired a healthier and happier relationship, with the majority of their drama surrounding Yamir’s music career. Chelsea and Yamir filed for divorce in 2017 and have remained cordial since. Yamir went on to continue pursuing his music career, while Chelsea remarried this year. The former married couple showed rare maturity in their divorce that isn’t often seen in the chaotic franchise.

David Murphey & Lana

David Murphey captivated audiences with his bizarre pursuit of mysterious Ukrainian beauty Lana on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. David finally managed to track Lana down after many years and several hundred thousand dollars and convinced the blonde beauty to be with him. It appeared that David had actually found the woman he wanted to be with, but their relationship fell apart off-camera. David dramatically and publicly pursued Lana, but David and Lana’s separation was far more quiet and more private than his courtship.

Cortney Reardanz & Antonio Millon

Cortney Reardanz and Antonio Millon connected on a dating app when free-spirited American Cortney was traveling in Spain. Viewers watched Cortney return to American for a long-distance relationship after the reality of Antonio left her lacking. Cortney and Antonio ended up meeting several times after filming before Cortney decided to finally end their courtship over FaceTime. Cortney and Antonio kept their split private and have refrained from dragging each other after they discovered that they weren’t a great fit. Since then, Cortney has moved on to explore love elsewhere while she also found unique ways to financially profit- such as selling feet photos.

Sean Hiler & Abby St. Germain

Sean Hiler and Abby St. Germain formed an age-gapped 90 Day Fiancé relationship, as 47-year-old Sean was over double Abby’s age. Haitian woman Abby was the first one to reach out to the American, though their relationship was complicated by the suspicious presence of her ex-boyfriend Chris. Despite their issues, Sean ended their season with a proposal. The couple ended up announcing their off-camera split in March 2018, with Sean saying that the harassment of 90 Day Fiancé fans had caused Abby to leave him. Abby has since moved to the US, where she lives with her new husband. She chose to keep her love life private since leaving the franchise, which appears to be a wise choice given the fan backlash she received.

Myriam Manhattan & Patrick Cornett

Myriam Manhattan and Patrick Cornett met on social media, which led to single father Patrick falling for the French woman. Patrick discovered the harsh reality that Myriam already had a boyfriend, though he refused to lose hope that things could work out between them. Patrick and Myriam made amends on 90 Day Fiancé: What Now? after she visited him in the US, which led to Patrick next appearing on 90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantine in 2020. Patrick provided viewers with an update, confirming that he and Myriam were no longer talking. However, things appeared very amicable between them, as Patrick said he still held out hope that things could work out between them despite Miriam’s past lies and deception. While many 90 Day Fiancé viewers would have understood if Patrick had animosity for his ex, he proved to be surprisingly optimistic when it came to regarding his potential future with Myriam.
