The 90 Day Fiancé franchise was conceived as an examination of international marriages in the United States, although numerous featured couples barely even dated during their runs in the extended franchise. Though earlier franchise pairs were shown marrying in the 90 days that a K-1 visa allows, many of the spin-off shows have veered off-course when it comes to showing deeper relationships. Learn about the 90 Day Fiancé franchise relationships that were far from serious.

Many viewers became enthralled by the 90 Day Fiancé franchise since it showed the unique pressures that couples face when they want to get married but come from different countries. However, the franchise has expanded to now feature couples in various stages of relationships, including being single and looking for love. While many couples on the popular spin-off show 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days are supposed to be preparing for engagements and marriages, franchise fans have witnessed numerous relationships that didn’t even reach the dating stage.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

One fan theory for why so many lackluster 90 Day Fiancé romances have been featured on spin-off shows is exposure. Rather than apply for the show to highlight their relationships, some cast members have been accused of seeking fast fame. Additionally, other failed relationships have been very one-sided. Though perhaps half of a couple would be enamored with the fledgling romance, the other partner was reluctant to make things official.

Patrick Cornett & Myriam Mana

Patrick Cornett and Myriam Mana are two halves of a baffling Before the 90 Days pairing, and they were never actually a couple. American Patrick was enamored with French beauty Myriam after meeting her online. However, it quickly became apparent that Myriam returned none of Patrick’s burning affection. The Frenchwoman already had a boyfriend, which was something that Patrick didn’t find out about until he traveled to France to see her. While numerous Before the 90 Days couples became engaged at the end of the seasons, Patrick and Myriam never so much as dated.

Caleb Greenwood & Alina Kozhevnikova

Caleb Greenwood and Alina Kozhevnikova are one of the newer couples to make an appearance in the franchise, although Alina was fired partway through their hastily wrapped-up Before the 90 Days season 5 segment. Russian woman Alina was immediately smitten with her online American friend Caleb and was quick to pressure him into being intimate with her. However, Caleb was far more resistant to being with Alina. In fact, he appeared visibly uncomfortable around her. While Caleb and Alina were intimate, Caleb was honest with Alina and revealed that he couldn’t envision a future with her as their lives were too incompatible. Caleb and Alina now join a category filled with franchise duos who were never even official.

Kimberly Menzies and Usman “Sojaboy” Umar

Kimberly Menzies and Usman “Sojaboy” Umar are another season 5 pair who can’t make it into the dating phase of a relationship. Usman formerly married Lisa Hamme on Before the 90 Days, but the best that fellow older American Kimberly can get from the young Nigerian man is the status of being a “potential girlfriend.” Usman is extremely reluctant to commit to Kimberly, although he is happy to accept her expensive gifts. Meanwhile, Kimberly is overly enamored with Usman, which led to her trying to pressure him into being intimate with her. It is very clear to viewers that Usman does not return Kimberly’s attraction or affections and that he is using her for money, presents, and future opportunities.

Riverknight Everett & Megan Montenegro

Megan Montenegro aired her lackluster relationship with Chantel Jimeno’s younger brother Riverknight Everett on The Family Chantel season 3 after Riverknight’s older brother Royal and his wife Angenette opted out of the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off show. Riverknight introduced an older model as his potential love interest. However, it appeared clear to fans that Megan was never serious about the budding relationship. Megan didn’t even want to kiss Riverknight and used him to promote her own budding music career. The duo parted ways on the show after Riverknight saw that they were at different places in their lives. Many The Family Chantel viewers thought the relationship was filler content and didn’t think that Megan had genuine feelings for the Atlanta rapper.

Caesar Mack & Maria Devine

Caesar Mack and Maria Devine are an example of a catfish relationship from the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. Whether Caesar was smitten with Ukrainian beauty Maria for her youth and looks or her personality remained to be seen, but it was very clear that Maria wanted nothing to do with Caesar. She was interested in money rather than a relationship. Maria strung Caesar along for five years to collect semi-weekly payments from him, but the blonde beauty refused to see him in person and failed to make an appearance on the show. Though Caesar revealed that he eventually did meet Maria face-to-face, the couple unsurprisingly didn’t work out. Viewers thought it was abundantly clear that Maria just wanted money and Caesar was foolish for chasing her and funding her for so many years.

David Murphey & Lana

Unlike Caesar, David Murphey did meet his rumored catfish Lana onscreen and confirmed that she was real. However, it was very clear to viewers that Lana did not return David’s strong and obsessive feelings. Lana was finally tracked down by TLC after she accepted money from David for years while refusing to see him. Though Lana was the woman in the photos David received, viewers have suspected that perhaps multiple people talked to David through Lana’s profile, for financial profit. Lana accepted David’s proposal in front of the cameras, though she quickly called things off in private when filming ended. It was very clear to 90 Day Fiancé franchise fans that David and Lana were never going to get married or so much as date in the real world.
