90 Day Fiancé star Hazel Cagalitan is finally revealing what she meant when she claimed her husband Tarik Myers abused her. Recently, Tarik and Hazel had a very public split that was aired on social media. Tarik revealed that Hazel was no longer living with him, and Hazel put up a GoFundMe campaign with the help of someone named Larry Carter, saying she had been emotionally abused and needed money for a lawyer and therapy. Hazel eventually took down the GoFundMe, and the couple got back together in late December, letting followers know with a cute New Year’s Eve dancing video. Now, the couple is explaining what happened.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Hazel and Tarik featured in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 2 when Tarik flew to the Philippines to meet Hazel. They got married in 90 Day Fiancé season 8 despite their issues with their shared ex-girlfriend, Minty. In December, Tarik unfollowed his wife on social media, continually changed his Instagram bio to reflect their drama, archived their wedding photos, and posted that Hazel had gone to another state to live with people he didn’t know. He also told followers that she would be returning to the Philippines, and viewers speculated that she would be doing so because of the fact that her son Harry still lives there with his father.

Hazel recently went live on Instagram, explaining that she and Tarik had a disagreement and she left, and saying she didn’t know the severity of the word “abuse” when she created the GoFundMe campaign. She said she has since learned what the word means, and confirms that she was not abused. The Philippines woman apologetically spoke of how English is “really hard” and she has had a difficult time learning the language. She also told her followers that when Tarik aired their disagreement on social media, that made the situation worse. Tarik joined the live and said he understands that now, and was using his Instagram bio to discuss their argument because at the time, it was the only method he had to talk to his estranged wife.

Hazel also told her viewers that although she had told Tarik she was heading to another state, she actually just went to a friend’s house in the area. Tarik added that most people head to their “mother or sister’s” house when they have an argument with their spouse, but that Hazel doesn’t have any family in the U.S. to go visit when she needs a break. Tarik and Hazel then clapped back at followers making comments about Hazel’s son Harry in the Philippines, saying they don’t know the situation. Tarik denied fan accusations that they simply wanted clout or to be on TV, adding that although he thought this was “saying too much,” they could be on TV whenever they wanted. The couple concluded that they only let followers know “a little bit” of their story, smiled, said goodbye, and went off to get seafood.

Tarik and Hazel are one of the most genuine couples on the franchise. Marriage is not easy, and having one half of the couple living away from everything they know can get messy. Many viewers have said they think it’s immature to air drama on Instagram, but this couple is human like everyone else, and it seems like they have learned public fights are not the way to go, and will hopefully not do this in the future. Because of what Tarik said about being on TV, it seems like fans may see this couple on a future 90 Day Fiancé spin-off.
