90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days cast member Johnny Chao used his Instagram to clear any doubts fans might have about his relationship with Ella. Ella was called out for fetishizing the “Asian culture” when she first introduced herself and her Chinese boyfriend on 90 Day Fiancé. However, Ella’s villainous streak didn’t end as she continued to force Johnny to come to meet her even as he voiced his fears about the coronavirus. TLC viewers didn’t appreciate being self-centered and not thinking about Johnny’s job or family back in China. She also let her physical urges take control when she cheated on him with a friend and manipulated Johnny into taking the blame.

Johnny had several reservations about traveling in the pandemic, be it to the U.S. or to Dubai. He didn’t want to get COVID-19 and end up in a hospital with a hefty bill. Plus China’s quarantine procedures were strict and lengthy. Everything eventually would affect Johnny’s parents and son Stony who he was finally responsible for. Fans pitied Johnny as they watched him trying to protect his relationship with Ella, when she, on the other hand, showed no sympathy for her boyfriend and even warned him that she’d get into an open relationship if he wouldn’t meet her ASAP. In fact, before Johnny could agree to her terms, Ella slept with a friend behind Johnny’s back.

But Johnny took full responsibility for Ella cheating on him and revealed that the two, unfortunately, met right after the pandemic started. According to Johnny, most Chinese girls would not have been okay with him being a single dad but Ella was “very patient and nice” to him which gave him “new hope for love.” The pair planned to go to a “third country,” but China has restrictions on flights. Ella also simultaneously dealt with a “strict travel ban,” yet she suggested she could fly to Taiwan and Dubai to see Johnny. However, Johnny admits he “acted as coward” and canceled his ticket. “That was my wrong and I know I let her heartbroken,” he confessed. Johnny claims he “agreed to have open relationship” with Ella and even told her that if she finds someone “better” than him, he will “let her go.”

Johnny thinks it’s unfair for him to keep Ella waiting hopelessly with no clear timelines. “It is a cruel thing I aware it,” he added. Johnny spoke about China not allowing foreigners to come in so “Ella does not have any options” apart from him flying to the U.S. “I am still holding USA visa. So clearly and obviously it is only one answer that is me fly out,” Jinan native Johnny confessed. “For what happened to the past I think I have no right to blame her for what she did because she was 28, 2 years earlier,” said Johnny, who feels Ella has wasted her “best age” to be with him which is why he’s so guilty. “I must admit mostly about the pandemic otherwise we could meet 2 years earlier,” he concluded.

With just a couple of episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days left to air, fans know that Ella and Johnny’s story won’t see a happy ending. The couple seems to be still together despite everything, and it’s possible they are exploring an open relationship. Notifications from Tinder were spotted on Ella’s phone during her call with Johnny on B90 episode 13. COVID-19 surely played a part in ruining Ella and Johnny’s relationship, but it’s commendable that he still wants to pursue it when she’s the one who messed it up further by cheating on him.
