90 Day Fiancé season 3 couple Mark Shoemaker and his Philippines-born teenage wife Nikki have been a scandalous twosome right from the beginning. Baltimore resident Mark was 58 when he appeared on the 2015 edition of 90 Day Fiancé and is still considered one of the creepiest cast members. The number one reason for this is Mark meeting 19-year-old Nikki, who’s younger than all four of his children, on a free dating site and then getting her to America to marry her. Interestingly, Mark’s ex-wife was from the outskirts of Cebu, which also happens to be karaoke singer Nikki’s hometown. According to Mark, his ex “changed radically,” and he was left looking after four children in diapers.

Some 20 odd years later of being a single dad, Mark was ready to start a new chapter, leading him to Nikki. Mark claimed he “loved that” the Philippines believes in the marriage of teens and that there’s no “tug of war” like in “American relationships.” When Mark first met Nikki, “it was magic,” and the two had “unbelievable chemistry.” Only two days after meeting, Mark got down on one knee and proposed to Nikki with a used zip tie. However, their relationship has faced a number of issues aside from just the massive age difference. Mark and Nikki have dealt with baby and prenup drama, in addition to a lawsuit against TLC. What’s more, Nikki has been missing from social media since leaving the show, which has alarmed some viewers.

It doesn’t help that Mark has always shown a tyrannical side. For example, when he received Nikki at the airport, he scolded her for leaving fingerprints on the windows of his expensive car. Mark thought Nikki was immature, while she exclaimed that being intimate with him was perfect. However, Mark kept pictures of his ex-wife in his bedroom, which was a red flag. Luckily, Nikki got along well with Mark’s daughter Elise, who was then 21, though she found it weird that Nikki was younger. When Nikki started wondering if Mark would keep her happy, he gave her a shiny new car, the same model he’d gifted his ex-wife years ago to impress her.

Soon enough, Mark showed his controlling and obsessive side when Nikki cleaned up his bookshelf for him. Meanwhile, she complained that Mark wasn’t giving her enough hugs and kisses and making her a priority. Kids were also a point of contention. Mark insisted he didn’t want more, while Nikki hoped he’d change his mind in the future. He asked Nikki to get on birth control and often compared her to his ex-wife, which also caused fights between them. Mark tried to solve their unresolved issues by taking Nikki wedding dress shopping in New York. However, upon hearing the price of Nikki’s dress, $2300, Mark backed off and disappointed her.

With 21 days left until Mark and Nikki’s wedding, he brought up the “one-sided” prenup discussion, so he wouldn’t have to repeat what happened with his ex-wife. She kept protesting, but Mark pressured Nikki to sign the prenup. Still, a present is all it took for Mark to get a smile back on Nikki’s face when he replaced her zip tie ring with a sparkly diamond one. The pair got married on a beach in Hawaii, yet Nikki could not stop asking herself if she’d ever have kids with Mark.

To date, nobody has been able to find out if Nikki did become a mom or what she is doing now. While Mark and Nikki sued TLC in 2017 for the way 90 Day Fiancé portrayed their relationship in a bad light, the lawsuit was reportedly dropped. Nikki’s last post on Instagram was in 2013, but some people claim they spotted Mark and Nikki together in 2017, and there have been no reports of a divorce filing. Recently, viewers were reminded of Mark and Nikki again when Elise posted a series of TikToks condemning Mark’s actions and admitting she’s cut ties with him. But viewers still wait for the day when Nikki resurfaces online and assures them she’s doing okay.
