As the very much in love couple of 90 Day Fiancé season 2, Chelsea Macek and Yamir Castillo broke many hearts when they announced their divorce in 2016. Fans still remember Yamir as the show’s only pop star, and his love story with Chelsea was straight out of a YA novel. Following the breakup, did Yamir return to Nicaragua to make music again? Yamir recently updated his 90 Day Fiancé fans about his health and work, after having tested positive for COVID-19.

90 Day Fiancé season 2 showed Chelsea, 25 (from a small town in Illinois), getting her partner Yamir, 28, to stay with her at her parents’ house. The Peace Corps volunteer had met Yamir at an event in Nicaragua, where he was performing with his popular band, Myla Vox. The couple locked eyes and fell in love. They soon got engaged, while Yamir’s bandmates and manager were enraged at his decision to move Stateside. As Angela Deem can attest, love knows no bounds on 90 Day Fiancé, and Yamir found himself in Chelsea’s home, being financially supported by her parents before getting married in the finale.

Since her divorce, 90 Day Fiancé star Chelsea has been involved with a woman named Erin, and she is now working at a medical marijuana dispensary in Colorado while dating a helicopter mechanic named Daniel. Her former 90 Day Fiancé partner has settled in America, and Yamir Castillo revealed in January on Instagram that he’s tested positive for COVID-19. By February 2, Yamir posted an update about having “99% recovered” and being “more than ready” to make music. See Yamir on IG below:

During a recent IGTV, Yamir showed his followers a beautiful view from his backyard and assured them that he’s doing “amazing,” and also announced that he would be releasing new music “very soon.” Over on Spotify, 90 Day Fiancé star Yamir seems to have gained a fairly good number of fans, with “Acelera” being his most listened-to track, followed by “Bailar Contigo” and “Party Love.” Yamir keeps his dating life under wraps but hinted in September 2017 that he’d found a “magical special woman,” in a now-deleted post, which made a lot of fans happy.

The cracks did show with Chelsea and Yamir, thanks to their different ideas about a wedding and Yamir wanting to move to Chicago for his music career, but the TLC couple’s divorce still came as a shock. It was much later revealed by Chelsea herself that her discovering she was queer had led to her romance with Yamir ending. However, the singer stayed supportive of his ex even after the separation.

Currently, the Chicago resident Yamir seems to enjoy the company of his pet cat, as he continues aiming for his dream of being a successful musician in the USA. If Yamir does get into a relationship again, fans might just get to see him on a 90 Day Fiancé spin-off in the future.
