The cracks in Jovi Dufren and Yaza Zaya’s 90 Day Fiancé relationship began to show even before she’d landed in America. While fans deduced that Jovi was underprepared for marriage, the season 8 trailer also hinted at a larger problem. Not only did the preview show Jovi living his bachelor life to the fullest but also revealed Yara complaining about his day drinking. And turns out both the fans and Yara were right in calling out 90 Day Fiancé’s Jovi’s drinking problem, as per a new report.

When New Orleans lad Jovi, 29, met Yara, 25, from Ukraine on a travel dating app, he didn’t expect anything more serious than a hook-up. But the 90 Day Fiancé couple’s chemistry was such that they began dating and in six months, traveled to half of the world. However, Yara and Jovi also became pregnant in the process and got engaged in haste, only for a miscarriage to follow. As Jovi prepared for Yara’s America arrival anyway, he did show hesitation, as noticed by the fans. But as recent 90 Day Fiancé episodes have shown domestic squabbles and ego clashes between the culturally different couple, season 8 has bigger drama in store. The TLC trailer did show Jovi’s past with strippers and his drinking become the highlight of their relationship troubles, with Yara catching him drinking whiskey at 8:50 in the morning. And while 90 Day Fiancé fans may have thought Yara was overreacting by calling her future husband an “alcoholic” and saying, “I’m done,” Jovi’s past may have had a role to play in her allegations.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The SoapDirt website has happened to uncover not one but two pieces of criminal background information on 90 Day Fiancé’s Jovi. Having taken place just a few months apart, both these arrests are supposed to have involved alcohol. The first time around, Jovi was 19 and under the legal age in December 2008 when he was picked up by New Orleans sheriffs. The incident is supposed to have taken place two days before Christmas, which resulted in Yara’s future husband Jovi getting charged with underage driving under the influence (DUI.) Shockingly, the report reveals that the 90 Day Fiancé celeb Jovi wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and may have run a light, as alleged by the court.

A little later in April 2009, Jovi was arrested again. The 90 Day Fiancé star was then charged with possession of alcohol under the age of 21. To make matters worse, Jovi supposedly missed his court date which resulted in them issuing a warrant which later came to be recalled. But the screenshot provided by the source shows that Jovi pleaded “Nolo Contendere” in which the defendant does not accept or deny responsibility for the charges but agrees to accept punishment as per CornellLawSchool. Jovi’s punishment, in this case, was a “sentence to education for the offense in Florida.”

In spite of his past and also Yara’s annoyance in the 90 Day Fiancé trailer, Jovi had recently denied drinking alcohol every day during a recent Instagram Q&A. When asked, “Do you drink alcohol every day?” by a TLC viewer, as per Monsters&Critics, Jovi had replied, “not even close, but I do like to have a good time.” And considering Yara did get married to Jovi on Valentines’ Day 2020 in Las Vegas and perhaps even has a baby, maybe the 90 Day Fiancé star really is, now, a changed man.
