90 Day Fiancé: Steven Frend & Steven Johnston Earn Similar Fan Scorn

90 Day Fiancé fans have turned on Steven Johnston from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3, but he isn’t the only Steven in the franchise to receive criticism. Steven Frend appeared on 90 Day Fiancé season 6 and picked up significant disapproval from audiences due to how he treated his partner Olga Koshimbetova. With Steven Johnston freshly engaged to Russian woman Alina, 90 Day Fiancé fans debated which Steven behaved the worst on TLC and who would make for a better partner.

Steven Johnston and Alina are still airing their flawed romance on The Other Way. Viewers are furious with Steven Johnston, a Mormon from Utah, for the way he uses religion to control Alina. Alina was shocked and devastated to discover that Steven Johnston mislead her about being a virgin. He admitted to hooking up with close to 100 women and having sex with several of them, including when he was dating Alina. However, Alina still accepted Steven Johnston’s proposal. Meanwhile, Steven Frend and Olga discovered she was pregnant in season 6 due to a summer fling. Steven Frend was slammed for being incredibly rude to Olga, including being jealous of the time she devoted to their newborn son. Though Steven Frend and Olga briefly split, they are currently back together.

Reddit user U/PrimitiveLoaf shared a photo of Steven Johnston and Steven Frend with the caption, “Who would you rather marry?” Since both men are notorious for their bad behavior, commenters had a very difficult choice choosing. “I’ll wait until Sumit asks me…” one top commenter joked, as The Other Way star Sumit Singh appears determined to never propose to Jenny Slatten. “They are both manipulators,” another commenter observed. “I’d rather send money to asuelus mom,” another commenter joked. “At least you can cope in one of these relationships with coffee & Alcohol,” another user chimed in about Steven Johnston being a Mormon. “Well, I definitely know which one I don’t want caring for me after a C-section,” another fan wrote in reference to Steven Frend.

Many commenters found similarities between both Stevens. The American men both found Russian partners and treat their partners unfairly. Steven Frend and Steven Johnston are both accused of being controlling, rude, and out-of-line. Therefore, it appears they have more than just a first name and home country in common. However, Steven Johnston is praised for his fluency in Russian. Russian is known to be a difficult language to learn, and Steven Johnston surprised audiences by being one of the only American cast members to fully commit to learning their partner’s native tongue. Many viewers are also furious with how Steven Johnston picks and chooses from his Mormon faith to control Alina.

Though both Steven Johnston and Steven Frend are panned by 90 Day Fiancé fans, the two men appear to be happy in their relationships. Steven Frend and Olga recently announced their move to New York City. Franchise fans were concerned when the young couple said they wanted to move to the very expensive city with their young son, though the couple announced that they are currently living out their dream. Meanwhile, Steven Johnston has been spotted with Alina in Greece. He appears to still be with her despite the numerous red flags that 90 Day Fiancé fans have blasted him for. Therefore, it appears that both Steven Frend and Steven Johnston are marriage material to someone.
