A TikToker named Ryan Annese recently claimed that his adopted sister wants to meet his family after not speaking to them for five years — solely because she’s going to be on 90 Day Fiancé. According to Ryan’s TikTok, he’s an entertainer based in Michigan. Most of his TikTok uploads are humorous videos about his family.

The Michigan TikToker claims that his family began sending money to an Indonesian girl his age named “Alfiana” when he was 12. Apparently, her parents died in a fire, so his parents starting sending money to her and her eight siblings. They called her their “adopted daughter” and considered her part of their family. Ryan said that five years ago, Alfiana told his parents that they could stop sending money because she was 18 and could support herself. His mother continued to send money, because her eight siblings were not yet 18.

Alfiana recently sent a letter to Ryan’s family saying she wants to meet them, because she is apparently set to appear on 90 Day Fiancé. “Alright, I see you, sis,” Ryan said in the video with a smirk. Although Ryan did not say her name in the video, his caption reads “Can’t wait to meet you, Alfiana!” It is unclear whether that is the actual name of his Indonesian adopted sister, or an alias he gave her for the video.

Commenters on the video speculated as to what Alfiana’s motive may be to contact Ryan and his family after 5 years, and prior to her appearance on the show. One commenter surmised that perhaps marrying an American citizen and appearing on 90 Day Fiancé is Alfiana’s next move in financially supporting herself. Another commenter wrote that they believed Alfiana simply wanted the story of her American adopted family to be part of her segment on the show. A third comment read “Looks like [TLC] may be looking for her back story.”

It’s not clear how far in advance TLC films episodes of 90 Day Fiancé, but it seems like they usually film the show about a year before they air it. For example, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3, the most recent season, discusses Hurricane Iota, the devastating Category 5 hurricane that hit cast member Victor McLean’s island of Providencia in mid-November 2020. The season aired in late August of this year, almost a year after the hurricane. If Alfiana is only contacting Ryan’s family now, her season is likely not airing for another year. This is probably why aside from Ryan’s TikTok, there is no other information published about her online. Ryan didn’t specify if his family agreed to meet Alfiana, so 90 Day Fiancé fans will have to stay tuned for updates.
