90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days star, Stephanie Matto, and her mother Magda Ballaro moved to the United States from the Czech Republic when she was only 7-years-old. While the star struggled to make friends at the time, she quickly found refuge in building audiences on online platforms like YouTube. Some theorize that this was pretty much the extent of her reason for starring on the hit reality show.

Stephanie and her mom, Magda moved from a small town in the Czech Republic near the cities of Frydek Mistek and Ostrava all the way to the outer New York City burrow, Yonkers. The two have resided there ever since and have left a number of family members back in Europe. Despite Stephanie’s condition, aplastic anemia, Australia wasn’t the first time she had to make a long-distance flight. After her grandfather passed years ago, Stephanie decided she would spend her summer back in the Czech Republic with family.

According to Cheat Sheet, about two years ago, Stephanie recovered from a recent aplastic anemia relapse in her summer back in the Czech Republic. She had survived her harrowing journey and was treated by her family and local medical facilities. She wrote, “My grandma would bring me blueberries from the mountains every week, and I would go for transfusions and blood work to nearby Frydek Mistek and Ostrava.” While she struggled medically during this time, Stephanie has maintained how grateful she was for the opportunity to return to her homeland. She wrote on Instagram about her experience with a local cow she nicknamed Wellington. She also wrote about her difficult morning walks dealing with pain due to low red blood cells.

Stephanie often points to her mom as a source of inspiration and a reason to not give up. When Stephanie first moved to the United States she struggled to connect with kids her age because of the language barrier. For her, YouTube and content creation became a refuge. This isn’t the only hurdle she’s had to overcome. The star and her mom have gone through a lot since moving to America and were even homeless at one point. This is a big reason why Stephanie has done what she can to be successful.

Stephanie and her mom clearly have a very close relationship. However, Erika was extremely disappointed when she saw that Stephanie was unable to come out to Magda as being bisexual. The Czech Republic is considered one of the most liberal countries when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights, leaving some fans believing the entire thing may have been a part of Stephanie’s publicity stunt to build up her YouTube channel.
