Since the announcement of her weight loss surgery, Angela has sparked rumors of getting her own fitness-themed spin-off. But while Angela might put her brand new body to good use, Michael isn’t too pleased. The Nigerian man has been wanting a baby with Angela for a long time, and it looks like the 90 Day Fiancé star is more interested in losing the inches than in IVF.

Angela, at 54, marrying a 31-year-old Michael was a big risk, especially when his culture is so adamant about having kids. So, even though the couple got married in a 90 Day Fiancé rarity, them starting a family was always going to be an issue. Angela only had one egg left in her reproductive system, and a bleeding incident made a doctor suggest that she could have uterine cancer. Even though the 90 Day Fiancé star’s test ruled out any bad news, her age prompted her to ask her daughter, Skyla, to be an egg donor. Skyla outright refused both Angela and Michael’s pleas on the recent 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Tell-All episode, and denied them an egg or a surrogacy opportunity. Shortly after, Angela claimed she didn’t want to be “wasting money” on IVF, but also announced her plans of getting weight loss surgery. TLC fans were taken back after Angela’s declaration, questioning the 90 Day Fiancé icon’s decision.

Both Michael and his family have forever been in favor of having a child, as per their Nigerian customs. In the African country, everyone is expected to have a child to carry on the name of the family. Michael’s mother also suggested him marrying another woman who could bear him a child since their culture allows it, but Angela has always been absolutely against the idea. “I would be lying if I tell her I can be happy without a child,” Angela’s husband once said, which is why the couple turned to Skyla for help and a chance to keep the child within the same bloodline. But when Michael stressed the baby topic on the Tell-All, Angela accused him of wanting an “anchor baby” to facilitate his American citizenship. However, knowing how important a baby is for Michael, what does not even agreeing to IVF mean for Angela and his relationship?

Online, 90 Day Fiancé fans have been asking why Angela would agree to spend money on an expensive surgery if she could get IVF. But if, as suggested by Larissa Lima, the weight loss surgery is a risk, so is IVF at Angela’s age, and her weight and underlying health issues could further complicate matters. Angela has also suggested that at 54, raising a kid all over again wouldn’t be an easy task and she’d rather enjoy what time she has left before she’s too old to travel. The weight loss is also an integral part of Angela’s speculated spin-off with TLC, which, in return, guarantees her more popularity and another stream of income. So while IVF could have been Angela’s top priority, in this case, it does present a few cons for the 90 Day Fiancé star.

The baby conversation between Angela, Michael, Skyla, and Aunt Lydia didn’t see a conclusion on the 90 Day Fiancé Tell-All. However, as Skyla declared, it was Michael who chose to marry a 54-year-old in spite of knowing the problems that were going to follow. The couple’s future is certainly at stake with the baby being such a big part of their relationship, but once Michael does arrive in America, he will also have a job and finances to worry about. Will Michael rethink his decision or will Angela finally agree to have a baby, via IVF or otherwise, after her weight loss? Hopefully, any of the multiple 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs TLC keeps giving Angela will have some answers in the future.
