Kenneth Niedermeier and Armando Rubio recently got married on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, and Armando’s father demonstrated how far he’s come with learning to accept his son. Armando Sr. wasn’t always so open-minded, and his journey towards embracing his son for who his is has been the most remarkable and transformative this season. 90 Day Fiancé fans were Amazed with Armando Sr.’s personal growth after Kenny and Armando’s wedding, and the 180 he pulled this season was truly inspiring.

When Kenny and Armando were announced as part of The Other Way season 3 cast, fans were thrilled. The couple is a franchise favorite, and though there’s sometimes drama and conflict in their relationship, they’re still a couple who fans love to root for. This season, Armando and Kenny prepared for their wedding and have begun thinking about having or adopting a child together. However, even though their happy ending was within reach, there were still some obstacles in the way. Armando’s traditional Mexican family has had trouble in the past with being accepting of Armando’s homosexuality, and Armando’s dad was still struggling with it this season as well.

Though Armando Sr. had made some progress, this season he was still pretty hesitant when it came to the upcoming wedding. There were times when he wouldn’t come out with the rest of the family to greet Kenneth and Armando, but did take some strides, like when he embraced Kenny’s daughter Cass. However, Armando Sr. had major reservations about the wedding and initially didn’t even want to go. Armando explained how important it was to him for all his family to be at the wedding, and still his father balked at the idea of being there for his son’s big day. But when Armando’s family showed up for the wedding, Armando Sr. was surprisingly in attendance.

Armando’s father caused his son a lot of stress leading up to the wedding, but Armando was shocked with how supportive his dad was being. During the ceremony, Armando Sr. was seen tearing up, and afterwards shared his recent revelations. “This is the first time we experienced a gay wedding, and it’s, well, perfect,” he said. “There’s no need to put barriers within your mind to not accept anything. It’s normal and we have to treat it that way.” They were amazing words to hear from someone who was initially so hesitant to accept his son’s sexual orientation. Now, Armando Sr. seems to be firm believer that love is love, and he’s glad to see his son so happy and complete.

On 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Kenny and Armando’s wedding was one of the best moments of season 3, and part of what made it so heartwarming was how accepting Armando Sr. has become. Armando used to have major anxiety over how his dad responded to him coming out, and to see how far Armando Sr. has come was incredible. It may have taken him some time, but Armando’s father has fully embraced his son and the man he’s chosen to spend his life with, and it’s a beautiful thing to see.
