90 Day Fiancé: Why Mohamed Deserves More Viewer Sympathy

Mohamed Jbali and Danielle Jbali, née Mullins, are one of the most explosive and memorable couples in the entire 90 Day Fiancé franchise. While Danielle was able to receive partial redemption on 90 Day: The Single Life, the franchise has continued to push the narrative that Mohamed wronged his former wife. However, some viewers think that Danielle should receive more heat from fans while Mohamed deserves a more sympathetic reception given their past.

Tunisian man Mohamed was 26 when he met older American mother Danielle, then 41, in an online chat room. Mohamed moved to Ohio to be with Danielle, though the issues between Mohamed and Danielle quickly unraveled. Danielle discovered that Mohamed had misled her about having a job. Meanwhile, Mohamed discovered that Danielle was deep in debt, had a criminal history, and had lied about many aspects of her life. Mohamed took off to Florida shortly after his marriage to Danielle, which led to her following him and furiously confronting him. Though Danielle has moved on to find love on The Single Life, she continues to bring up how Mohamed referred to her feminine parts as smelling bad.

Since Danielle has continued in the franchise, she is able to constantly bring up the negative comment Mohamed said about her lady parts. However, many fans think it’s time Danielle let the comment go. Mohamed has apologized to his ex-wife numerous times, including on camera. Mohamed called in to once again say sorry to Danielle on TV during The Single Life Tell-All and made it clear that he is now living a private life away from the cameras. It is clear that Mohamed has turned his life around since appearing on 90 Day Fiancé, while Danielle has leaned into the franchise and now peddles questionable products to her followers on social media. Many viewers respect Mohamed’s privacy and think that his apology was genuine. Therefore, it appears ridiculous that Danielle keeps asking him to make amends for something that has been forgiven multiple times.

While some viewers feel bad for Danielle, the way she treated Mohamed is consistently glossed over. Danielle hid the fact that she had passed bad checks and committed credit card fraud. Many viewers push the narrative that Mohamed used older Danielle to get to America, but it is understandable to see why he wouldn’t want to be with someone who concealed a criminal past and extreme debt from him. Furthermore, Danielle pressured Mohamed to have sex with her even when he was clearly unwilling. Danielle did not listen to Mohamed’s boundaries and dangled deportation over his head if he wouldn’t be intimate with her. She then tracked him down in Florida when he left the relationship and caused a scene by throwing papers and screaming. The police had to arrive until the incident calmed down.

Danielle has seen the 90 Day Fiancé franchise try to revamp her image and present her as a sweet single looking for love. However, the more problematic aspects of her relationship with Mohamed tend to be blamed on Mohamed alone. Mohamed has been depicted to be a “user,” though it isn’t often discussed how much Danielle was trying to use him for sex and to fulfill her needs. Mohamed’s move to Florida could instead be viewed as him escaping an unhealthy and unhappy relationship. He has since focused on earning money and supporting himself and has not profited from drama or sought attention online. Danielle, on the other hand, threatened to have Mohamed deported if he wouldn’t stay with her. Overall, it appears that 90 Day Fiancé viewers have been unfairly harsh when it comes to Mohamed and have not held Danielle accountable.
