ABC’s cancelled show Rebel could get a series revival from IMDb TV. ABC cancelled the show just five episodes into its season one freshman run, which was a particularly tough decision considering it came from the network’s most valuable drama showrunner, Krista Vernoff, who is currently shepherding ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19. The series stars Katey Sagal and is inspired by the real life activist Erin Brockovich.

Fans of Rebel may be excited to hear that ABC’s canceled show may get picked up for a season two by IMDb TV, as reported by Deadline. The series is currently available through the free streaming service which has an agreement with Rebel studio, ABC Signature, that includes an option for a season two order based purely on how season one performs on the platform. In addition, the studio has the entire cast under options, which makes the possibility of a revival even more likely.

Rebel was Vernoff’s first script to achieve a series pickup after thirteen failed attempts. Sources say that the network made the decision to cancel the series based on the show’s lackluster digital and linear ratings performance. The disappointing ratings performance was not from a lack of advertisement as the series received a massive marketing push and a primetime ABC slot right after Grey’s Anatomy, which gave Vernoff an entire night of Thursday programming.

Along with Sagal, the series also stats Andy Garcia, John Corbett, Lex Scott Davis, James Lesure, Kevin Zegers, and Tamala Jones. Part of Disney TV Studios, the series is a joint collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature. The plot of the show follows Sagal as Annie “Rebel” Bello, who is a legal advocate without a law degree and a blue-collar background. Rebel is a fearless and brilliant woman who will fight hard for any cause she believes in, attempting to win at any cost, and that may just get Rebel a season 2.
