Adult Swim Responds To Rick & Morty Season 6 Release Wait

Adult Swim responds to fans who have been wondering if Rick and Morty season 6 is ever going to release. Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, Rick and Morty has remained a fixture of the Adult Swim lineup ever since its debut in 2013. Rick and Morty season 5 concluded last year, setting up even more adventures for the titular duo.

Rick and Morty follows super-genius scientist Rick Sanchez and his dimwitted grandson Morty Smith as they go on various adventures through the cosmos. Loosely inspired by the dynamic between Doc Brown and Marty McFly in the Back to the Future franchise, Rick and Morty has become one of Adult Swim’s most popular series, developing a massive fanbase in the process. The most recent season debuted in 2021, with its conclusion closing out some of Rick and Morty’s longest-running storylines and promising some major changes for the series going forward. Since then, however, there’s been little news about when the show would return with season 6.

This long wait for more Rick and Morty has left some fans feeling like season 6 may never come. To respond to that, Adult Swim’s Instagram account has posted some hopeful reassurance that Rick and Morty season 6 is, in fact, still on the way. Check out the post below.

The above video comes from the season 5 episode “Mort Dinner Rick Andre,” using the sequence where Morty calls Jessica to playfully remind fans that season 6 is still coming. At this time, Rick and Morty season 6 does not have a confirmed premiere date on Adult Swim. However, the network has confirmed that Rick and Morty season 6 will indeed release sometime this year. So, while the wait for Rick and Morty to return to their usual adventures may seem eternal, fans can take some degree of solace knowing that the characters will return in 2022.

While Adult Swim has answered the question of whether or not Rick and Morty season 6 will ever come out, numerous questions remain as to how the show will continue to evolve with its latest assortment of episodes. Season 5 saw the destruction of the Central Finite Curve and seemingly promised more serialized storytelling for the Adult Swim show – a significant change of pace for the often canon averse series. Only time will tell exactly when Rick and Morty season 6 comes out, but it’s definitely coming, and it is coming sometime this year.
