Any fan of Marvel and ABC’s Agents of Shield can tell you that one of the show’s consistent highlights is the genius character of Leo Fitz, portrayed by the brilliant Iain De Caestecker. Since the series debuted back in 2013, Fitz has been more than just a regular, he’s been a main member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team that so many have grown to love.

Along with his incredibly heartwarming and masterfully-built relationship with Jemma Simmons, part of what makes Fitz such a great character is the impactful delivery of some of his best lines. Throughout seven years, six seasons, and over 120 episodes, there have been countless amazing Fitz quotes that have made the character so enjoyable. As the seventh and final season inches closer and closer, this list will look at ten of the very best Fitz quotes.

10 “Maybe it was their favorite recipes.”

After S.H.I.E.L.D. collapsed and Robert Gonzales was trying to rebuild the organization, Phil Coulson’s original team wasn’t exactly on board. As Gonzales and Bobbi Morse tried to unlock Fury’s toolbox during the episode “Afterlife,” Fitz proposed what information might have been locked inside with one of his funniest, and sassiest, lines ever.

9 “But…He’s the worst!”

Learning that Deke was actually the grandson of FitzSimmons was not just a surprise for the characters, but for just about everyone watching as well. Even after a realization of that magnitude, Fitz still managed to lace some humor into the situation. It’s no secret that Fitz was never exactly the biggest fan of Deke, but even he couldn’t maintain that disdain for his own grandson.

8 “We were a team and a family, and you betrayed us!”

As the effort persisted to take down Hydra, Coulson was forced to reassemble his original team, Grant Ward included. The lack of trust between Ward and the group was more than obvious, but it was Fitz who made the gravity of Ward’s actions abundantly clear.

This line is one example of the many times in which De Caestecker completely dominates a scene with his delivery. Although the entire team made their contempt for Ward clear as day, Fitz’s jab at Ward was what made you truly sympathize that much more with him and the rest of the team.

7 “This is just one giant snark hunt.”

One of the best aspects of Fitz is the way in which Caestecker imbues his Scottish flair into the character. Every so often, fans get an incredibly hilarious reference or saying from Fitz or another European character that typically flies over the heads of the rest of the audience.

Upset with Jeffrey Mace’s men searching his lab for Inhumans, Fitz tells them to relay to the director that their search is all one giant “snark hunt.” Considering most wouldn’t know what that means, he clears it up, following with, “That’s British for a bloody waste of time.”

6 “You’re the least supportive pretend girlfriend I’ve ever had.”

In an episode that famously cameos the late legend Stan Lee, “T.R.A.C.K.S.” also gave fans another iconic and hysterical Fitz quote. On a mission to locate the Clairvoyant, Fitz and Skye (later changed to Daisy Johnson) fake a relationship to trick a conductor and get into the cargo hold of a train. Joking about their acting performance, Fitz calls Skye the, “least supportive pretend girlfriend” he’s ever had. Back in the early stages of the show, before their missions got larger-than-life and much more dangerous, moments of humor like this felt much more frequent than they do now.

5 “I am the luckiest man on any planet.”

Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons were destined to wind up together. From some of the earliest episodes of season one, you could tell they were made for one another. It may sound bold, but FitzSimmons is probably one of, if not the best on-screen Marvel relationship of all time.

All those frustrating years of waiting for them to get together ultimately paid off. Finally married in the twelfth episode of season five, titled “The Real Deal,” Fitz perfectly sums up the unorthodox journey to their wedding during his vows. In a line that he would repeat later in the episode “Inescapable,” Fitz tributes their trips across different planets, galaxies, and the bottom of the ocean by calling himself, “the luckiest man on any planet.”

4 “You’re just different now, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Throughout the run of the series, there’s been plenty of heartwarming moments between Fitz and just about every character. One of the best, and arguably most significant, came in the episode “Aftershocks,” shortly after Skye went through the Terrigenesis process to become Quake.

When Fitz reveals to Skye that her DNA has changed drastically, she breaks down in his arms. Concerned that something is wrong with her, Fitz touchingly reassures her that she is, “just different now, and there’s nothing wrong with that.” This scene and this quote, in particular, were pivotal for not just Fitz and Daisy’s friendship, but for the team’s overall acceptance of her Inhuman abilities.

3 “We’re cursed.”

The early stages of Fitz and Simmons’ relationship were extremely frustrating. Every time it looked like the two were going to finally be together, they were ripped away from one another. An idea that Fitz established in the eighth episode of season three, “Many Heads, One Tale,” was that the two were cursed and that, “the bloody cosmos,” wanted them apart.

The idea that they were cursed would persist in their relationship throughout the rest of the series. Anytime the two are kept apart, they jokingly chalk it up to the curse. Considering what it would come to mean in his relationship with Simmons, it was impossible to not include Fitz creating the curse here.

2 “Science, Biatch.”

During the heat of the Inhuman storyline, Gordon was one of the biggest thorns in the side of S.H.I.E.L.D. His teleportation powers made him good for a quick entrance and exit, and practically impossible to catch. However, if there was one person who could figure out how to trap him, it was Fitz. In the season two finale, “S.O.S. (Part 2),” when Fitz did manage to catch Gordon, the Inhuman was beyond surprised. When asked how he did it, Fitz replied with probably the best one-liner in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. history.

1 “Do something!”

In the seven-year run of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there has been no better display of acting than that of Iain De Caestecker at the end of the season three opener. “Laws of Nature” mainly deals with the Inhuman outbreak, with a line of fish pills sending people through Terragenesis. It also heavily deals with Fitz’s quest to discover what happened to Simmons.

After hitting another dead end, and Coulson telling him to move on, Fitz completely loses it. He shoots the hinges off the door containing the Monolith and provides one of the best all-time scenes with two simple words. The anger, despair, and desperation that De Caestecker packages into the delivery of, “Do Something!” is just part of what makes this scene so incredible and one of the most emotional and noteworthy Fitz quotes.
