ABC is only a few days away from the season 4 premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which will be moving to a new 10 pm EST time slot. The change could have something to do with mediocre ratings for a series with Marvel’s name plastered in front, but the reasoning behind the move has been said to allow for a darker tone moving forward. This will be put to the test with the introduction of the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider, who should be a dark character by his very nature. The rest of the show will seemingly follow suit, with fans eagerly awaiting answers to some of the biggest questions after season 3.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

As the season premiere moves closer, the promotional campaign has picked up, with a heavy dose of Ghost Rider. While the rest of the returning characters have seemingly been lost in the shuffle, the characters viewers already know have returned for new cast photos.

Marvel officially unveiled the new pictures of the group as a whole, as well as individuals. Featured below is Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson aka Quake, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, John Hannah as Dr. Holden Radcliffe, and Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes aka Ghost Rider.

While there would normally not be much to take away from cast photos being released, there are a few interesting things to take note of. First, the main cast photo features Daisy back with S.H.I.E.L.D. in her usual Quake outfit, complete with her gauntlets. In her individual photo however, her “rogue” look is featured. This will likely confirm what many had already figured and Daisy will return to S.H.I.E.L.D. rather quickly. After all, the gauntlets were invented to protect her body from the tremors and the extensive use of those powers will likely have some negative side effects to her health.

The other thing that is interesting is giving Yo-Yo and Dr. Radcliffe their own character photos. Neither of them are currently listed as series regulars though figured to play big roles, but now their roles could be bigger than initially expected. Yo-Yo is the only other member of the Secret Warriors set to return at this point, with Lincoln being dead and no word on if Juan Pablo Raba will return as Joey this season. Radcliffe on the other hand will bring about the first Life-Model Decoy and work closely with Fitz and Simmons, so the impact of this could potentially play into the larger story.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 premieres Tuesday, September 20 @10pm on ABC.
