Ghost Rider’s presence will be felt in episode 100 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the character himself won’t be making an appearance. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has had some shocking moments across its last 100 episodes, from the reveal of how Coulson came back to life to Yo-Yo’s dramatic fate last episode. But with the show hitting its milestone 100th episode tomorrow night, some even big surprises are in store for viewers—and Coulson is likely to be at the center of things again.

With the agents back on Earth and in their proper time, they can now deal with the threat of the world being destroyed. But on top of that and the impending Kree invasion, they also have to contend with General Hale and her supervillain daughter Ruby. As if all of that weren’t enough, we know that Coulson is once again on the verge of death. Though he’s been revived before, the show is unlikely to go down that route. Plus, the minds behind Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are writing the season finale as a series finale in case the show doesn’t end up returning. And on top of everything else, Coulson’s deal with Ghost Rider is still hanging over the show’s head.

EW spoke with Gabriel Luna about the upcoming 100th episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which promises to address the deal Coulson made with the Ghost Rider last season. But though that will factor into the game-changing episode, the Robbie Reyes actor says he’s not actually involved in the big episode.

Ghost Rider was one of the best part of last season of the show, certainly the strongest string of episodes until the current run. As such, it’s a bit surprising he won’t be back. We haven’t seen him in some time, and we know Lash and Hive are returning. It could be that Robbie will come back later in the season and that episode 100 was too overstuffed to work him in. But if this really is the end for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it would be a shame not to see the character one last time.

With Coulson set to die once again and Avengers: Infinity War right around the corner, fans are losing hope that Clark Gregg will ever reunite with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Still, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has become Marvel’s best reviewed show and more than proved it deserves a place in the MCU. They may not mix it up with the big screen characters, but what remains of the series is sure to satisfy Marvel die-hards.
